The incident occurred at the John Smith’s Stadium, home of the Huddersfield Giants, who were hosting the Salford Red Devils, The Sun reports.
As the final whistle blew, reports say a Salford fan ran onto the pitch as the away side came over to clap their travelling support.

But as he was led away by security, outraged fans surged to the front of the stand — which resulted in a crush involving women and children.
Players desperately waded in to help their families — prompting angry altercations between fans and players.
Junior S’au and Justin Carney rushed into the stand to help their loved ones, as stewards opened overflow gates at the bottom of the stand to allow children to escape.
Australian Carney played five seasons on the wing in the NRL (three with the Canberra Raiders and two with Sydney Roosters) before he moved to England in 2013.
S’au, a New Zealand native, played five seasons with the Newcastle Knights and one with Melbourne Storm before moving to Salford in 2014.

Salford coach Ian Wilson said: “They (fans) should be made accountable. This is a family game.
“They are not the type of fans we want.”
Marwan Koukash — who owns Salford — took to Twitter to condemn the trouble.
Britain’s governing Rugby Football League joined Koukash in promising to identify and punish anyone found responsible for the trouble that took place among the stands at Huddersfield.
Soon after Salford’s 26-24 Super League win at Huddersfield, photographs emerged on Twitter showing Salford players Carney and centre S’au involved in heated exchanges with their own supporters.

In one particular shot, New Zealander S’au appeared to be restraining a fan on the ground.
There were reports that the two players had concerns regarding the welfare of their families, who were seated near where the trouble had flared up.
RFL chief executive Nigel Wood said Monday: “We will conduct a full investigation into the events that took place in the away section of the crowd at the game between Huddersfield and Salford.
“We do not condone violence of any kind and will ensure that anyone found to have acted improperly is dealt with accordingly.”
In an earlier statement, Koukash said: “I want to apologise to the Huddersfield Giants and to all the decent fans at the game today.
“We will work closely with the Giants and the RFL in our investigation and this minority of thugs responsible will be identified and dealt with by the club in the coming days. There is no place in Rugby League for them.”
