OK. Say we sign Tedesco or someone like him - there goes 800+ per season as against the 150 Hoppa is currently costing us. We are already on or over the limit so we then have to get rid of 650+ from our existing cap (forget about upgrades and that stuff). So who goes. At that price probably 3 of our current squad replaced by up and comers like Abbey, Elliott, Fualolo and the like. Maybe we keep Browne and get rid of Graham and Jackson. I've got to say when faced with that sort of balancing act the potential of Hoppa missing a couple of games (and still think he would have played in the GF if we got there) while certainly not ideal is not the end of the world.
She'd fit in with the trendies at Newtown so anything is possible.
I agree with you on that point although I think BMoz was supposed to be the replacement FB and then blew his knee. Even so Perrett was safe but slow. Hoppa got thrown in last year and had a crack for the first half of the comp but fell away in back half. Maybe it was fitness or maybe injury - really don't know. He has had a full off season to get ready and certainly looked quicker in the storm trial. Hopefully Abbey will grow into the position and by the back half of this season we will actually have choices. I think Barba only jumped ship in the early part of the 2014 season so it has really only been 2 seasons where we didn't have a FB and Morris was supposed to slip in for 2015 and then got busted in pre-season last year. So really this year is the first one where we look like having someone play FB who has been training in it during the off season. I expect him to go pretty well this year.
650... option 1 get rid of b morris because thats what he gets paid to play on wing.. option 2. Get rid of abbey, hoppa and one other poxy back .. only thing with that is your shedding 3 players in top 25 to replace with 1 so you still need to pay for two more to join. Option 3. Get rid of eastwood. Option 4 get rid of tolman. .... theres heaps of ways to do it if the club was keen and the player was keen to sign
Also.. browne is already gone.. and if we got rid of jackson and graham wouldn't that clear up almost 1.5m ? Not required. If teddy is 800k we can replace him by offloading a player on 800k....

He settled for $400k that Parramatta have to pay from the cap over 3 years. That and the no footy on Sundays maybe makes $150k at least plausible...?

Graham has been ineffective for 2 years. Jackson is in form. He has been best player for two years for us.
Except for one little yet important thing - all these blokes you want to get rid of have to be replaced by someone else. so how does the squad look if you have cleaned out all these players? Suddenly the Elliots, RFMs, Fualolos and Fines become you frontline players. Still think we can be competitive with those blokes in our starting side?

Yep. Get rid of BMoz because he breaks down and replace him with Teddy. Get rid of Reynolds? because he misses tackles and replace him with Moses. I can see the logic and it would probably only cost us an additional 500k in our salary cap. I'm not saying we have our roster perfect or even right but I am also realistic enough to know that the clubs can count and they know what they have available to spend and they have to gamble to some extent on up and comers either making the grade or not. When it works like it did for the sharks last year it looks good when it doesn't you end up like the Rabbits.
