Consider injuries mate it’s a long season/marathon .. if they occur do we want hungry players that can step in, or just fall in a hole like last year ?..

Also the coach put every player on notice, if they wanted it they had to earn it, whoever gets picked, the coach believes they worked the hardest for it and deserve to be there ..

Critta is arguably the best centre in the game right now, for defensive reasons it probably makes sense to have him play there, Tracey has been injured and probably a bit behind gelling with the team & fitness wise.

Any talk of coaches picking favourites is BS, it’s just an excuse to say he doesn’t see it the way the person saying it does .. Perham was consistently picked last year because we didn’t really have a lot of options, this year we do ..

While some spend 8 plus hours here doing nothing but commenting their opinions on a forum .. the coaches are actually spending that 8 working with these players everyday, so who would know best ? .. think about that.

Appreciate varying opinions but the experts do know what they’re doing.
Taaffe would still be hungry from the reserves.

Perham "earned" fullback last season.

I think playing centre for the best team in the competition and playing centre for a bottom 4 team isn't comparable. I don't think he's going to get the same amount of opportunities or good ball. If this is the case then value in the salary cap/Critta's impact will come under question. I would also rather a quality+ fullback over an elite centre (especially when Taaffe isn't that great at fullback and someone like Xerri or Tracey can at worst do a job at centre).

You're the one that spends 8 hours on here commenting your opinions. I've barely posted the last couple of months (at least in comparison to yourself). You're just throwing out blanket statements.

You don't need to be an expert to have an opinion, e.g. you literally just made a thread saying we should sign Willison, and you're far from being an expert yourself. You should leave recruitment up to the experts. The experts also went with Perham at fullback last season.

QLDer fans must be hardcore for not falling into the trap of the broncos - much respect.

Wonder why we have fans in QLD in the first place.
Because Queenslanders are plastics and don't support their local

Perham might honestly be better than Taafe. Perham is a workhorse fb that took 15+ carries and made solid metres. Taafe is a lightweight who gets dragged backwards almost every carry. Tracey having the worst pre season probably since his ACLs obviously made the decision easier lol

Also from today: Bupa was up for life membership but couldn’t attend due to another commitment so he asked that his nomination be deferred to a future event. So likely we’ll see him nominated for the 2025 AGM.

Please… every single kick that Taafe took on Thursday night he ran it back hard & with gusto to make as many metres possible.

Compare that to Perham who would have stepped, jinked & ankle tapped himself!

Some of these guys played 40mins…. Give it time FFS for all the guys to gel

I don't think Joash will be fullback for us. Tracey is a far better stop gap than Taaffe, Taaffe just the new coaches pet.
That’s just your opinion mate, and you’ve said it a ton of times, we all know you’ve finally picked a new favourite now Avo’s gone, maybe it’s you that’s choosing based on favouritism ?

You often mention the level these days that people need to be at in professional sports, do you honestly believe the head coach of a professional Nrl team would pick based on favouritism, especially after the season he just had,… yes, some coaches have done that in the past but that’s generally been nepotism and look how that’s turned out the majority of the time, Ciro has no sons in the team … !!

You maybe right, Tracey might prove to be the better option in time, but the narrative that he was injured late into preseason and might not be ready, holds a lot of weight that you haven’t even acknowledged, sometimes it leads me to think you’re bored and just baiting.

Tracey may prove to be the best option but not fit enough or ready yet, Ciro might feel right now, Taaffe is ready .. can you at least acknowledge that ?

Coaches favouring players is normal, happens at bigger clubs in bigger sports. Why isn't Tracey fit? Gus told us he would be fit around Christmas?

I do. To take a head coaching role there'd have to be a certain level of arrogance in your own ability and stubbornness to be proven correct

So on that basis coaches do have favourites, they "see something" that no one else can and have to be proven correct, so you do get your undroppable tactics/players
