Article on foxsports reckons his high rate of getting put on his back and giving away penalties (worst record among contenders for the NSW prop spots) is the main reason Freddy didn't want him.

Penalties conceded: Saifiti 1, Tamou 3, Haas 5, Campbell-Gillard 6, Paulo 7, Leota 9, Klemmer 13
Turned on back percentage: Tamou 18.90%, Saifiti 19.90, Paulo 21.90, Campbell-Gillard 29.70, Haas 32.60, Leota 33.50, Klemmer 33.70

Axed Blues prop David Klemmer was dropped from Brad Fittler’s end-of-season Origin squad due to how he carried himself upon his recall to last year’s NSW outfit, it has been claimed.
The Knights prop was not named in Fittler’s preliminary group on Sunday along with Cronulla’s Wade Graham.

But speaking on NRL360 on Fox League, The Daily Telegraph’s Paul Kent said that the reason for Klemmer’s omission was due to the way he behaved last year.

Klemmer was part of the losing NSW side in game one of the 2019 series.

A wrist injury ruled him out of game two and he was not included in the 17 for game two. Klemmer only returned for the series decider after Tariq Sims was banned.

And it is his behaviour around that time which is thought to have led to his omission by Fittler this year.

“Klemmer didn’t get picked because he carried on like a sour tart last year,” Kent said.

“Last year he didn’t get picked, then he was brought back in.

“Now the problem was they sat there and he sulked a bit in camp, one word answers. Yes, no, moped around.

“When the NSW brains trust sat down this year, they said this isn’t like other Origin series because we go into camp for game one and don’t go home until after game three.

“They sit there and thought given how he behaved in camp last year – how are we going to get on if he carries on like this if he doesn’t get picked in the first game?

“Then we’ve got to drag him through games two and three.

“They don’t want his negativity affecting the mood in camp. There were plenty of players who missed out on tours because the coach thought how the hell am I going to deal with it if one player gets a headache, we’ve all got to take a panadol.”

Pretty embarrassing when coach tells everyone you sulk, and bc of covid bubble, once you're in, roster cant be changed and they're stuck with you moping around affecting the rest of the squad. Freddy didn't want to pick him for that reason.

‘Carried on like a sour tart’: Why Fittler dropped Klemmer
Axed NSW star David Klemmer was dropped from Brad Fittler’s Origin squad because of his “sour” ancient history with the team.

Mostly the same story that Daustin pasted above, with a few changes.

The way he left the Dogs was never going to work out well for him. The details of these things work their way through the circles of the game, you get a reputation for something and people start seeing you in that light very easily.

He will be fine at the Knits so long as he keeps doing a good enough job for them, but the moment he loses form or starts making too many errors/penalties he will quickly found himself on the outer. Freddy is a pretty easy going guy, it says something that he was quick to dump him.

It wouldn't matter, you could put Tolman at prop for NSW and they'd be better than QLD. Their forward pack is gash.
