Mbye 150m - Tedesco 186

Montoya 57m
Hoppa 98m - ok
JMorris 59m
BMoz 50m

Maybe not our biggest issue but still makes a big difference not having our backs making good metres to start the set off.

Not enough metres from these guys. Not enough runs bringing the ball back and helping our forwards. Montoya especially looked tombe getting physically dominated every time he brang ball back.

Ferguson 220m
Manu 98m
Mitchell 157m

Ferguson is an absolute beast for them, and of course they re-signed him for unders

Kinda hard for our backs to make good meters when our AUSTRALIAN front rowers does not go more than 10m and rather than player footy we have Woods thinking he is captain and challenges the refs even though he had a point we all know the refs will NOT listen to us! We did get robbed with our first no try though not sure how the bunker can over rule ref. when there was no clear video evidence on obstruction! BUT yeh if our 2 rep. front rowers went forward then our backs might make more meters!

The roosters kicking game was much better so you wouldn't expect our backs to have run the same meters.

It's big issue imo, our sets continually start off poorly. The Morris' run sideways from dh or first pass off the ruck and get dominated. Montoya showed signs last season but has looked poor this season and hasn't made much of a dent when running. Hoppa does usually get a good 10m with his runs while Moses who has played 2 games at fullback is running harder than the rest of our backs and actually looks like threatening the defence.

We really are short 2-3 tackle breaking backs. Other teams have fast powerful backs that eat up metres and push away defenders to get set rolling and that is what we lack. Just look at someone like Rapana, the bloke tuns around like a headless chook at times yet he pushes away from defenders and breaks up the defensive line and some how finds metres. Ours just submit at contact lol.

So our forwards are suppossed to chase back 50m kicks and bring the ball up on the start of our sets?

Montoya has looked average this year, he was great last year but I always thought he needed more size because he doesn’t have the best footwork to beat people and it has been showing badly this year. He always tries to cut back in and just gets man handled without really gaining any metres

Last year he looked to be playing with more aggression and could bump away from a defender or two and pick up some decent metres with a quickish play the ball. I always though he was going to develop into a poor mans Vunivalu.

Unless he puts on size he isn’t going to be having as good a year as last year which is disappointing. And he doesn’t have the footwork to beat anyone before the line, all his speed is straight line

BINGO finally someone has pointed this out. This is a massive issue for us. Our yardage from our outside backs is terrible.

Yardage from your outside backs is vital for a number of reasons.
It sets up for your entire set of six gets you a roll on fron tackle 1. Plus it allows our forwards to do less work, therefore keeping them fresh for def which will help our line speed in order for them to move up and smash.

Morris twins need to go and be replaced by younger more dynamic outside backs.

Hoppa is probably our best yardage outside back we are stuck with him anyway as his on a long-term deal. I really like Montana but he really needs to improve this part of his game.

Can anyone think of some gun wingers or centres that are off contract to replace the twins.

Most teams have decent size across the back 5, our only big body in the backline is hoppa. We need some size and definitely some speed

I don't see Montoya as a Bmoz (Dragons) or Radradra type player where they are a go-to guy on a team. I think he is the type of winger on a team that will have a good 10-year career where he will get you 12-16 tries a season, nice speed, safe as a house and will eventually develop into a player that will learn to make good runs out of DH, a pretty good player that is a fan favourite and on low coin.

Perhaps that Sione Katoa from the sharks. As it looks like Holmes and Feki will be there long-term wingers

Well he just broke his jaw in two places, that’s what they used as an excuse to move Holmes back to the wing
