Why the change?

This new layout annoys me.

But of course I will get used to it in time, but is there any particular reason for the change? Or just purely aesthetic?

1 thing I don't like about it...

It's WAY too bright that it's killing my eyes. I have a 22inch so it hurts like hell. My monitor is also around that big...

Put something on the sides guys, like a background photo or something - at least.

I think the icons are a bit too big. Maybe a gray background or something other than white to make it less bright.

seperate the profile colour a little more than the very faint blue,from the posting side.(maybe with a line) it looks to clutered.
