Who the fuck comes up with these figures 900k and apparently he’s willing to play this year for 150k at the roosters
Ummmm if you work out the 150k for 4 games you come up with 900k over a season.

I agree fuck no. Be fucked us. Short memories.

If he came back to us in 2013 then I’d be more receptive. He went tnn in the Fucking chooks. He can remain there. Now we talk about having him at 35? Pass.

Go for tpj

Once the shoulder charge was banned he became just another player I would sooner have Lewis than give this turd a spot in our side. We need to have some pride. If he came out and said I fuked up and want to play for the dogs and only want $1.00. I would put in the squad as our 30th player pop him in the 17 player list on Tuesday and pull him out on Friday for Lewis, Cogger, Wakeham or the Mascot just so he gets fuked over every week. I would be happy with him in our team then.

Shit journos just rehashing the same shit over and over again.

I'd be serioulsy concerned / shocked if our club ever spoke to Khoder Nasser again. If they ever entertain any of his clients in the future i'd be livid.

If the roosters were sitting 16th and the dogs sitting 4th with 2 titles in the last 2 seasons sitting on the mantle. Not to mention now the $aundy family are on board.

Who do you think this bloke would play for?

$bw only gives a rats about 2 things.

1. Money
2. His profile

The guy paints this clean skin, a man of his word persona, he's anything but.

Hes had enough moments for redemption and hasn't taken one up. The ultimate is when he couldn't even show his face at folkesy funeral, the bloke that gave him his start and set him on his path.

Ultimate bloke... Nah... Ultimate selfish c@$'

NRL 2020: Why Sonny Bill Williams won’t be a Bulldog next year

It was the high-powered dinner at Brighton which many Bulldogs fans haven’t forgotten – nor forgiven Sonny Bill Williams.

Canterbury management called an emergency dinner at Le Sands Restaurant in July, 2008 to discuss increasing speculation that star player Williams was ready to walk out on the club – with four years remaining on his contract – for French rugby.

Inside the restaurant that night were then Canterbury Leagues chief executive John Ballesty, football club chairman George Peponis, Bulldogs CEO Todd Greenberg, Williams’ friend and former player Solomon Haumono, Williams manager and adviser Khoder Nasser, Bulldogs powerbroker Arthur Coorey, and Williams’ confidant Anthony Mundine.

Khoder Nasser, Solomon Haumono and Anthony Mundine sit across from Arthur Coorey, John Ballesty, George Peponis and Todd Greenberg at the La Montage restaurant in 2008 to discuss Sonny Bill Williams’ future.

Those aligned to Williams – according to others at the dinner – assured Canterbury hierarchy that Williams wouldn’t quit.

He left less than a week later!

While some at Belmore have forgiven Williams’ behaviour 12 years ago, others still with influence at the club haven’t.

Greenberg remembered the meeting when contacted by News Corp, but he preferred not to comment. Peponis did not return calls.

And Canterbury fans with long memories also haven’t forgotten the Bulldogs 80th season anniversary gala dinner at Le Montage, Lilyfield, where Williams was invited to celebrate his entry into Canterbury’s team of the decade.

The Bulldogs even invited Roosters chairman, Nick Politis, hoping it just may sway Williams to attend. The tactic failed. Williams declined the invite.

Williams continues to be linked with the Bulldogs for next season, a seemingly romantic and nostalgic end to the career of one of rugby league’s finest.

Another possible hurdle at Canterbury would be the club’s new sponsor, the Laundy family, are major poker machine proprietors.

While Stu Laundy has expressed an interest, Williams is anti-gambling and will refuse to wear a Roosters jumper with sponsor, Unibet, splashed across on the back.

The space will be by taken by a charity.

Despite having another year to run on his contract with Toronto, Williams has become a free agent after the Canadian franchise withdrew from this year’s Super League competition and then had their participation agreement terminated.

While he has heard and read talk linking his club to Williams, Bulldogs CEO Andrew Hill doesn’t think the champion player would ever play against the Roosters.

And Williams’ asking price, according to agents, could be around $900,000 a season.

“He hasn’t come up in any of our discussions for next year,” Hill said.

“There hasn’t been a conversation and we don’t have a spot for him. We haven’t spoken about him internally nor have we had any discussions with Sonny Bill or his agents.

“There is always plenty of speculation around Sonny and the Bulldogs but I can confirm there hasn’t been any discussion about Sonny playing at the club next year.

“He is not on our agenda. There has not been any expression of interest from him or us and there is no plan to have a conversation.”

New Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett preferred not to comment on Williams when contacted by News Corp.

Canterbury players spoke publicly on Tuesday about the impact Williams could make at Belmore.

“Hey, contracts and the NRL, who knows that little question. I guess time will tell. Clubs need good players, Sonny Bill‘s a good player,” five-eighth Lachlan Lewis said.

And Canterbury back-rower Raymond Faitala-Mariner added: “With the amount of young boys that we have coming through, there needs to be some sort of guidance and to have someone like Sonny Bill, with his reputation, would be good for the club to have.”
So, the Roosters don't have poker machines in their club?

What's funny is the size that some of the SBW threads get to on TK. Pretty sure we had one over 100 pages long.

Maybe when we no longer create long threads on SBW he will stop being newsworthy and there will be no more stories.

The longest thread I've seen was the lantrell Mitchell.

Let's get serious here. Why would we want to sign an ex player who showed what the epitomy of unprofessionalism is? Walking away with four years to run on his contract and not have the guts and respect to tell Peponis and Greenberg at the time what his intentions were is unforgivable.

Forget the rubbish being said about a final home coming. He and his manager know we are one of the only Sydney clubs that can afford him. This is for their benefit and their own financial interest, period.

A one year contract of $900k is not an investment where we will see 5+ years of financial gain. He won't even wear the major sponsor on the jersey so again why sign him when he isn't on the same page as everyone else but be the highest paid player? It doesn't make sense and would be frowned upon by most supporters.

Doggies fans may forgive, but we don't forget.

2008 sucked after he left, but in freeing up the cap space we then got Ennis, Stagg, Hannant, and Beastwood. 2009 was a great year, and it also laid the foundation for a pretty competitive 4 or 5 years.

Lesson learned, if any player is so big that they demand that much cap space and board/club attention (remember the club giving discount tickets to anyone with a Kiwi passport, 100% because SBW wanted it), than they aren't worth it. Make the place somewhere people want to be, and pay the right price for people to be here. Paying extra to entice people to be somewhere they aren't keen on isn't generally going to work well. The exception being that when they get here they fall in love with the place. Bullfrog and his son Kev were great at making the place somewhere people wanted to be.

Can someone explain this "he wouldn't play against the roosters" crap that keeps coming up? He was there all of two seasons. He was more than happy to play against the chiefs in super rugby so i don't see whats so special about the roosters.
