Why I think we badly need a decent half.

We have just won to on the trot . Give the guy a break for fuck sake . He was solid enough - didn't overplay his hand directed the team around the park .
A great win today but there’s not many players who do less than Flanno week to week.
His game has been simplified and that's great in many ways,
1. he has taken on the link roll from Jackson
2. he isn't attempting to overplay his roll,
3. he is defending well,
Overall he is long away from being the dominant half need but finally he is on the right path.
The question remains, will he improve enough to help us become a genuine premiership force ?

I'm just glad that it's starting to look like 3 of the 4 spine positions are settled for next year. Just that bloody no.7 is all that remains.

1.Avo
6.Burto
7. ?
9. Mahoney

One more piece to the puzzle. We're getting closer lol

any idea how Rajab is going in Jersey Flegg?
No idea, watched Hayward at the ground yesterday and we he was very good tho (same with BBO). You only really get highlights of Flegg but we know the club think highly of him. He's probably a few years away.

Lets relax abit here, flanno may not be the answer in future but I think hes done his job well of late, been good at getting set restarts/ looking for space on the outside when he has the ball, only need to look at Kiraz’ try this and last week, flanno passes play a big role in both. As I said, he may not the answer but lets not be too hard on him, he doesnt shy away in defence and should only get better with a proper coach coming in

Give him a break his on 500k tackles we'll competes but is a reserve grader at best, offers nothing
We are winning games and looking good now. 500K for a half back is next to nothing and allows us to be able to sign Reed Mahoney and upgrade Burton which helps improve and keep our spine in tact. Wouldn't expect you to understand what he actually offers to the team . Being a half back isn't all about the flashy plays. You want the flashy plays you pay a premium of 1 milk plus

He's a decent communicator it seems and it's hard to argue the results but he doesn't have enough in his bag to be our long-term 7.

With the Cup Captaincy handed to him, BBO seems to have cut out the ad lib low percentage plays and he played very constructively today.

He deserves a go and with a bit more specialised coaching and development he could be a revelation with a few full fg games under his belt.
Spot on Wendy .... his last couple of weeks have been much improved.

He looked very much like a first grader in waiting yesterday.

No need to rush though ... let BBO make it impossible to not pick him.

That's how we used to do it.

This would be a nice comparison for who were at the game and those who understand the game better than me
Flamingo was playing behind a very dominent pack.
Hastings was playing behind a pack which was badly dominated.
I bagged out Flanno like a lot of us supporters but he's getting better, and he's earned that chance of making the number 7 his, also having players around him like Burton, fox with Mahoney, kikau on their way he'll only grow in confidence.
People were baying for Averillo's head me included at certain times for his lackluster performances but now he's starting to flourish, and back to Flanno I'll steal a line from the movie scent of a woman 'he'll make you proud' my opinion is to stick with Flanno.

Personally I think we can do better than Flamingo at 7 even with what we already have, I fact I even think JuNk should have been tried their, he "might" have been OK at 9, if of course we had some else to play 9.
Don't think so.. BBO and Wakeham can't do 80min.

Also as reserve grade level as he is, he can do 80, does not have errors in him and is slowly getting better hence why we probably persist with him until someone is more capable

I think we have a proper coach at the moment.

I like what mick has done and if he continues to win ill eat my words however lets not have a knee jerk reaction to this, potter is a decent coach deffo and id love him to stay as an assistant but there are better coaches about, if this is what Mick is getting from the players, this only highlights what a better coach could get and how bad Baz really was

Flanagan is the best HB at the club by a country mile

Unless Cleary or Munster(not a traditional 7 anyways) come off contract, Flanagan will be the #7 up until his contract is up

It's up to the club if they renew Flanagan or bring in Hayward, if he develops to the level required

Barrett has been poor in every head coach role I was shocked people thought it would be any different this time round.

If wakeham was playing yesterday averillo would have score 4 tries in total...at least on 3 occassions he could have passed to avo on the sweep and with an overlap but chose waddell instead ...wakeham would have nailed it and lets not forget wakeham and rfm combo as well with wakeham putting him through on many occassions in the past

Yeah, I never fully believed in him but after his year at Penrith I had some hope, that quickly faded after seeing him make some shocking decisions this year

This is why I'm not a fan of targeting assistant coaches. It's why Ciraldo I'm nervous if that's the one, hasn't done head coaching at all. It's why I'm all for Flanaghan, Paul Green, etc.

Yeah I agree mate, theres always that doubt, however we knew Baz was a disaster from the job he did at manly, there are also examples of assistants becoming head coaches and doing good jobs, look at fitzgibbon this year at sharks even, not a fan of green, would like woolf or flanno
