Not that I imbibe in whiskey etc I shall contribute nonetheless.
Many years ago just after my grandfather died we needed to clean out two big semidetached townhouses in New town that had been his furniture factory, ( J. Ratner & Co ) amongst the best part of 120 years worth of detritus were 5 large sealed stoneware jugs of Scotch, I don't know the brand but my uncle opened one and said it was "VERY" smooth... They were auctioned and apparently fetched a very nice price.
(The houses were in the family for about 120 years and every time something was surplus to their needs it would be taken to New Town to be stored away, as you could imagine it was an Aladdin's cave...)
I believe there's a Woodworths there now.
