When tagging someone in a post...

Hi mods,

When tagging someone in a post, I know we use the @ symbol to initiate the tag (which is fine) however when the post appears, can the @ symbol be removed? They do the same thing in facebook, but the @ sign doesn't appear once the post has been entered - wondering if we can do something similar here?

Just testing .. Also wanted to see if I get an alert when I tag myself.
Its pretty sad but I was disappointed when I didn't.

Is there any possibility at all it could be changed? Even the slightest? I just find the @ symbol really messes things up. That's why I don't use twitter, it's hard to understand who's saying what half the time lol.

I don't believe it is possible. @Nash is the man to answer that one, but I believe the @ symbol is the very basis of the inline tagging system here.

There is a mod that exists. I'll look into it when I'm free later this month.
