id have to agree with The Bandit on this one... Telstra is the main carrier in Australia, doesnt get as many drop outs that other providers do.

yes telstra might be a little more expensive on the cap chargers, BUT if you comfortably fit in to the cap then why go to another carrier to get a cheaper call rate and never reach the cap charge.

all you are going to get is headaches with drop outs, missed calls cause you have no reception and NO subsidised handsets.

Up to each individual to decide. i have been with telstra on business plans for over 3 years. my bills only come to $90, with vodafone they were $320..

Ive been with Telstra since the analog days and havent had any problems with Drop outs that a lot of other people complain about......it is a little more expensive but when u have the right options like Atomic Crimson has then it does benefit you.

You should go on the new capped plans AC, go on the $69 + $10 plan, so its the $79 cap which includes SMS, MMS, GPRS the $69 doesnt..

i was going to.. however they took a look at my previous bills and said had i went on a cap than i would have exceeded the cap restrictions thus making me pay the full 300 or whatever it was...

on the cap call rates are 3 times as a much as my current plan... hence why i opted for the half priced mobiles instead as that saved me about $40 - $60 a month

Optus pre-paid, its awsome, get the 'Turbo Charge' pre-paid deal, this is how it works...

You buy $30 worth of credit and get $150 to use in 1 month.
You buy $50 worth of credit and get $250 to use in 1 month.

You have one month to use as much as you want, you need to re-charge a minimum of $30 a month, and then the money You dont use from the last month, carrys over from last month.

So if you have $250 credit, and end up with $100 credit left at the end off the month, re-charge with $30 and you will get $250.Re-charge with $50 you will get $350..

It rocks, and its what Im on at the moment.
