Watching the game against Roosters our defence was way off, compare to other clubs.
We were giving way too much after contact meters, simply because there was no one tackling around the legs or coming In late to tackle around the legs (e.g noticed JMK during the game, going around legs once and it was a missed tackle which led to a try for roosters, rest of his tackles were waist and above, he was getting carried few meters after contact) he wasn't the only one but he was the one I focused on.
When 1st half finished, I thought Dean Pay Will and should address that, but trend kept on going in second half .
When our player's tackling most of the times we're tackling above waist, whether it's one in a tackle or more and that gives field position for the opposition.
We don't deserve the wooden spoon, this team is better than that.....

I remember James Graham saying something on NRL360 a year or so back, he said players are coached not to tackle around the legs (old classic type tackle) because the player goes down faster and it allows a quicker play the ball and put the defence on the back foot

Because we are the Bulldogs and it's a well known fact that:

tackling around the legs or coming In late to tackle around the legs
*blows referees whistle*
Ref: "That's a penalty for a cannonball and on report"
OR
*blows referees whistle*
Ref: "That's a penalty for working the leg and on report"

What happen to tackling with you shoulders. Not these fuckers are able the wrestle, all arms and getting dominated .
*blows referees whistle*
Ref: "That's a penalty for a shoulder charge / high contact and on report"

What happened to moving up in a line , not waiting 10m back
*blows referees whistle*
Ref: "That's a penalty for offside, three more and a player gets marched"

Put simply our players are afraid of being penalised for so much as sneezing on the field. They know this so tend to hang off tackles and not race up in defence. Meanwhile opposing sides are allowed to stand 6-9m back in defence.

If a legs tackle or a classic jolting one on one tackle was to be considered a dominant tackle and more time given to the defender to release the tackled player the game would change considerably - would help to lessen the wrestle.
