He was banned for a week for referring to Mbye in an incredibly racist slang term, after prior warnings.

That was on the 4th of June, so should have expired by now.

Just took a look and something cocked up in his acount and it didn't reset the Secondary User Level. So the ban was lifted, but the user groups Banned and SinBinned still assigned.

Manually changed that and sent him a PM tellingg him to come on back...

....

In all honesty I don't mind his posts. when he's contributing and not trolling he actually has some really good input. But the deliberate trolling is rather annoying (as other users have long complained about), and the pushing of luck with racist posts catches him out every so often.
I’ve been trying to track the offending post. Can you pm it to me?

He got hit with the banned stick after pretending to be estoniapuppydog.

Apparently, Breakfast Point is a hell hole, and Granville is an upgrade of that suburb :tonguewink::tonguewink::tonguewink:
Are you serious ? He was estoniadog?

Quick question on the banning system, does it go in chronological order for eg 3 days, a week, a month etc. Or are bans random amounts depending on serverity?

Entirely depends... it's a very modular system... and moderators have a bit of flexibility there.

Warnings can be pointed, or a non pointed warning (at mods discrepancy).

It's based on points:
0 points = clean user account.
1 point = minor issue.
5 points = one week ban.
500 points = permaban.

You can also be issued one point per offending post. So if you abused a user 5 times across 5 posts, (at mods discrection), you could cop 5 warning points and a weeks ban.

Points generally expire after 1 month on a user account, but in some cases with constant problems (e.g constant user abuse), we might set a 3-6 month expiry so if the poster offends again after a month or two, they will cop bans.

24/48 hr bans are manually done. We also have the ability to ban a user from a specific thread or subforum.

Generally speaking though it goes on a number of things. Previous warnings, previous warning points, and even the users reaction to previous bans.

E.G If a user comes back after a ban, apolgises, realises they were out of line, etc, then a moderator is far less likely to enforce a rule if it happens again. Compared to someone coming back from a ban and telling you to "get fucked", ignoring the ban, or worse.

E.G 2: If someone is warned and warned and warned, and still decides to break the rules, then they'll cop a ban. If it's something they've had bans for before, often the ban is doubled. 24 > 48 hrs, then 7 days. After that a fortnight, a month, 3 months, and generally if you hit 6 months its a lifetime ban.

Another thing is often contribution to the forums are considered. If the poster contributes decent content to the forum and has a minor biff with a user, often it'll get removed/deleted and no warning required.

That said there are zero tolerance posts on here as well though. Post graphic porn, constantly post adult/explicit images, blantantly abuse another user (as well as in PM), or issue a creditable threat to another poster (violent or otherwise) and that will normally see you permabanned. Likewise coming back from a ban and telling a moderator "lets meet up so I can kick your head in".

Hope that explains things :grinning:

I don't believe so as they are part of an add-on the forum has (which is specific to the Moderator and Administrator User Groups. Any moderator can see how many points a user has, but generally speaking if you haven't got a warning for a month, you'd be on "0".

How can you appeal a ban?
