TAANE Milne’s playing future is in tatters after the Wests Tigers tore up the young centre’s contract for a second breach of the NRL’s illicit drugs policy.

The Tigers announced 22-year-old’s contract termination on Friday night.

His first contravention occurred at another club.

Milne had only just joined the Tigers on a two-year deal after playing 18 games for St George Illawarra but failed to make his NRL debut for the club in the opening rounds of the season.

“After due process and full consideration, and in collaboration with the NRL’s Illicit Drug Policy guidelines, the club has made the decision to terminate Milne’s playing contract,” a Wests Tigers statement read.

“His behaviour contradicts the values, behaviours and culture being created at the club.

“Wests Tigers have committed to providing Milne with support and counselling during this challenging time.”

Wests Tigers centre Taane Milne has been sacked by the club for a second contravention of the NRL's illicit drugs policy.

Milne's two-year contract with the joint venture, which was only signed in June last year, has been terminated immediately, with an automatic 12-match NRL suspension to be served before the 22-year-old would be permitted to return to the game.

A Fijian international with five caps to his name, Milne arrived at Concord after two seasons and 18 games at St. George Illawarra and time in the Roosters lower grades.

A Wests Tigers statement said Milne's first infringement ***was at a rival NRL outfit, while the club says it will provide him with appropriate counselling and support.

"After due process and full consideration, and in collaboration with the NRL's Illicit Drug Policy guidelines, the club has made the decision to terminate Milne’s playing contract," the statement read.

"His behaviour contradicts the values, behaviours and culture being created at the club."

** and that would be the Dragons........or at the Roosters where his contract was terminated for off field behaviours; but that would have been around three years ago....

Just missed beating you to the post. He would have to serve a 12 week suspension first......along with Jayden Nikorima from the Roosters....

I'd sign him and J.Nikorima tbh. Not sure if I'd be happy to start Milne but he would certainly be great depth

I wonder what it was for... and how long the NRL suspension will be. Pot? Nose Beer? or other?

Either the rumour I got was wrong and meant Milne OR there will be another player at another club announced in a similar fashion soon (pending B sample).

This system is crap Tigers would not have been aware of it before they signed him

What drugs would be bad enough to have him struck off imediately?
Is there any suspension another club would have to have him serve?
Dude it’s a second strike after testing positive to coke.

12 game NRL induced suspension and whatever their club does is up to them. In this case Tigers sacked him and opened up a spot in their 30 man roster to fill.

Ahh so any team that picks him up (if NRL allow them to register contract), is without him for half a season.

He was playing soft as before we punted him as well. Wasn't even close to getting an NRL call-up.

Yeah I think we need to stop buying from the Tigers.. so far we've got one dud in Suli, and one questionable dud in Woods.
