Warriors CEO Cameron George has announced David Fusitu’a, Ken Maumalo, Agnatius Paasi and King Vuniyayawa have been booked to fly home on July 27 to be reunited with their families.

The players had originally committed to stay in Australia only until Sunday’s match against Cronulla unless the NRL succeeded in its efforts to secure travel exemptions for their families to enter Australia.

Due to the unavailability of flights, the four players will now remain with the team another week until after the encounter with the Sydney Roosters next Saturday.

George said Fusitu’a, Maumalo, Paasi and Vuniyayawa had the total support of the players, staff and the club. The same applied for Leivaha Pulu who returned home two weeks ago.

"We can’t say enough about the sacrifice they have made being away from their families so long," he said.

"We fully understand the predicament they have been in and we’re so appreciative of what they have done in committing to the cause for as long as they have.

"When we travelled to Australia we promised the players everything possible in our control would be done to secure travel exemptions for their families to join them there.

"Ultimately the decision lies with government agencies to approve the applications the NRL made on our behalf.

"There hasn’t been any sign of a favourable result, which we accepted was always a possibility. Given those circumstances David, Ken, Agantius and King are free to go home.

"As well as thanking them for all they’ve done we would also like to thank Peter V’landys and the NRL for all the work they’ve put in for the players and their families. We’re hugely disappointed it hasn’t worked out as we would have liked but it was out of our control."

The players will be required to go into isolation for 14 days in New Zealand before they can finally see their families next month.

George said consideration was now being given to how best to replace the returning players in the squad.

Sorry Warriors but the more disruptions they have the bigger chance we have of avoiding the spoon so hopefully this stuff continues.

We could arrange a loan for them to help them out. Cogger is well proven in dummy half, and I've heard great things about Lewis playing lock.

This is why the Warriors have always been shit, like fmd I'd punch my mum in the face if it meant we won the comp.

It's hard not to root for the Warriors given all they've been through... I don't care about getting the spoon and never have really. 14th, 15th, 16th... Either way it's horrible. If anything being given the spoon gives the team more motivation next year.

To be honest the club and players deserve the spoon this season.

As much as I hate to say it, we are playing like a team that deserves the spoon. We are so far behind all teams. Broncos have been woeful and still we couldn't compete with them.

The problem is, if COVID re-explodes here like it's appearing it might, they might be kepy even longer from seeing their families and they probably have young children. A good decision for them to go home. Family matters most. They should have never resumed the season.

Yeah, TBH, you would want to be paying me a lot more to suddenly have to live in a different country from my family. Why do people think FIFO workers are so well paid?

Not much of a comparison TBH. Cricket schedules are set out years ahead. Players know exactly what's coming up, and its an expectation of the job that if you make it to that level you will be required to be away. Their families are also free to accompany them, there is no restriction on movement.

Of course, I don't know what your family situation is, but I know I'd absolutely hate to be away from mine for that period, especially if I had not signed up for it.

They get paid so much to only play sport and train, they and their families can cope for alittle to be living far more comfortable than what their actual skill set/education would really get them in the real world... Most of these guys are on 2-3 times as much as what they would be paid with the type of work they could only get with their educations and brain functionality, the minimum wage for a 2020 contract is $110,000 PA this year so yeah most of these guys will never see that type of income outside of footy.

I'm currently finishing up my masters so I can start demanding that type of money as a minimum and its taken me 6-7 years with my mechanical/mechatronics (I specialise in both fields) engineering bachelors and masters plus industry experience with work to build these very desirable skills, if you ask me its been far more intensive as my studies started the same time these guys would be training semi professionally in high school to achieve well and get into uni no issues than just playing sport from a young age and having a whinge to be staying away from family to earn them good dough so they have food on the table.

I worked in mining and stayed away from family and friends for blocks of times at a time and yeah it was boring or I missed them but I never whinged because I knew I was doing my role to support my family and build on my future, even as an engineer on site in mining was still pretty dangerous but hey I don't play sport and wouldn't be as tough as these overpaid whimps lmao...

You don't think NRL players are paid alot more than us lmao
