Check out this website. I was watching a show today the Food Dude? and they spoke about this place lots of the retro sweets like slate pencils, aniseed balls etc....

Yeah, the cardboard packaging, or in tins also, before the plastic.
Better still do you remember the streets ice cream that came in little grease proof rectangles that fitted these .They cones were not as tapered as the ones in the photo but couldn't locate a picture of the rectangular cones that streets used to have. .You could get vanilla, Neapolitan or plain chocolate. Our next door neighbor's son worked for Streets and used to get us a carton of the individual wrapped slices plus the cones. He got freebies every week....
