There just isnt much to see there.. mind you I only really saw Cleveland, an amish town and areas that tourists wouldnt really visit, so I cant comment on Cincinnati, Columbus, Toledo or Sandusky.. I still managed to have a good time cause I was with family but it's not somewhere I would choose to go back to if it wasnt for them. Not heaps to do. Google ohio attractions and you will probably be unimpressed after the first few..
Oh and the women aren't as hot.. and I know that's important to you.

Places I've been on my trips to u.s.a and a quick assessment on each...

Los angeles - its massive. universal studios good, however most attractions are over hyped. Didnt mind santa Monica beach. L.a is close to Anaheim (south). Santa Barbara is a nice day trip to the north.

San diego - I really like it and think its worth a few days. Dont bother with sea world though as not even as good as sea world gold coast (other than killer whales).

San Francisco- I rate it for a visit. Alcatraz is a must. Theres a heap of homeless but it's a pretty city and very unique. Its also a close drive down to carmel or across to yosemite.

Las vegas - just go. You will love it or hate it, but just dont think it's all casinos. Use it as a base then go explore grand canyon, Zion, even Hoover dam.

Denver/Colorado. - Colorado is one of the prettiest states in usa. Denver is a chilled city with craft breweries and pot joints now, but denver isnt the highlight in this state. All through the rockies you will find really scenic towns and heaps of outdoor activities (hiking, mountain biking white water rafting or if in winter skiing etc). Think a new Zealand advertisement then up the beauty a few notches and u have Colorado.

Santa fe New Mexico - pretty cool for a short visit. The whole city is full of Spanish buildings. Fairly popular for arty types. Very unique.

Yellowstone national park. Amazing place. Need a few days there to take it in. Stay on Montana side entrance to park.

Wyoming - skip other than grand teton national park.

Idaho - skip

Utah - amazing national parks. I really liked arches national park but they have quite a few spread out over the state (Zion, Bryce, monument).

Ohio - skip

NYC- 1 week minimum. No explanation needed for NYC.

Boston - my fav city. Easy to get around, plenty of history, pretty city, friendly locals.
Problem with skipping Ohio is you miss Cedar Point. If you are a roller coaster fan then this is heaven on earth!! The roller coasters are insane. I am an adrenaline junkie, have done skydiving and bungee jumping and all those crazy things and by far the biggest adrenaline rush I have ever had was riding top thrill dragster. I was on an absolute high for about an hour afterwards!!

Yea that's true, I didn't go there cause I was in ohio during winter ( actually only a few weeks ago). I am also a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to stuff like that.. camp snoopy is more my thing Haha.

HOLY CRAP! You weren't kidding!! It looks like a complete freefall on the way down lol...

It kind of reminds me of the Corckscrew at Sea World I went on 20+ years ago. Scared the crap out of me lol. Have you been on that one?

How long will you be stuck at customs though for having photos of thick women?

Just giving you guys an update... I still have NOT managed to find anything. I'm at the point now where I don't really care where the trips starts and ends... I'm happy to start in LA and end in NY. The Grand Southern looks like the one to do, but it's only available through Contiki.

I'm happy to do something along the same lines, but just not with Contiki. Anyone got some tips?

My advice don't do a Contiki tour. Hire a car and drive yourself. There is so many things off the beaten track that you will miss doing a tour. The people you meet and the things you see in the little backwater towns is awesome

Wild Hogs. Just stay away from the Delfuegos or however they spell it.

Some suggestions:
1. Highly recommend Alcatraz, been at least 4-5 times, each visit to SFO, I go back. The place is crazy eerie, boasts the best views of the Bay Area and has night tours if that's you're thing.
While in SFO, Lombard Street is walking distance to the Piers area, take the cable cars through those scary hills, and hang on TIGHT!

2. Go to Austin, TX for the live music. Stay for the BBQ, Tex-Mex and Blueness in a State of Red.

3+ Don't do Contiki.
Plan your own way, include Greyhound/MegaBus and Amtrak for the experience (book ahead to save $$). MegaBus has fares between Austin and Houston for $0.50 if booked in advance, it's a 3-hour+ drive. BARGAIN!
Ride public transport, but register with Uber and Lyft.
Buy the T-Mobile 3-week tourist SIM card on arrival (https://www.ultramobile.com/tourist/?icid=WMM_TMNG_PPEULTRA_AU4DD3J38PK7L3C8617764) or pre-purchase an AT&T before you leave Australia to activate when you land.
Prior to booking flights, ensure you have obtained your ESTA Visa (https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/).
Know how to tip properly, minimally just double the tax (which is on the receipt) or a buck for every drink at the bar, more if the drink is strong, cold and served fast.
Check your travel insurance thoroughly for inclusions/exclusions, top-up for full medical!
Pay for your trip on a credit card that provides motor vehicle insurance excess

If you're going during NRL season, use a VPN to extend your Kayo subscription!

Enjoy!
