Are these the same huts that trump said the demonrats built?
So since my Friday night drinking session, I've found out the following.
In the past month there's been an influx of unaccompanied kids crossing the border. These kids usually have relatives already living in the US, but as these relatives are undocumented, it takes time for these kids to be connected with their relatives. This is due to locating them and a reluctance for undocumented relatives to reveal their whereabouts to the government (in case of being deported). One criticism is that the Biden administration should give leeway in these undocumented relatives collecting the kids, without any repercussions, so that they don't have to use this tent facility.
Because of this recent influx of kids (this past month), the current buildings they use for unaccompanied minors, are not capable of holding the influx. This is due to COVID restrictions. So they re-opened up this camp to keep the overflow from other facilities kids there. They say it's only temporary for 30 days until they can get other facilities equipped or process kids faster from other facilities.
This tent facility was used by the Obama administration for a few months in 2016.
Biden administration has come under fire from AOC (and others) for re-opening this facility.
