I cannot honestly ever picture the Titans becoming a premiership contender or have a culture of winning. Every competition has a team like the Titans that simply make up the numbers..

They might come good under Hannay but it'll be a long while before they be genuine premiership contenders

People might be too young to remember when Titans finally made finals. 2009/2010 they had some good years and looked as good as anyone in finals.

If memory serves me correctly, they got done in a close game in knock out final.

They have been abit like the Tigers since. But i wouldnt rule them out of becoming a contender.

Like Gold Coast Suns in the AFL, they just need the right type of coach who can bring both a gameplan and a couple of key players to implement it. They also need to follow it with good retention from their junior nursery.

Keeping Tino long term could be key to this success.

I reckon if they had a Brad Arthur or Ivan Cleary or Michael Hagan as coach, they would do well.

Will be interesting to see how they go with Hannay. From all reports Hannay does alot of work under Slater in the QLD origin team, so i feel he will be good for them

Much much better than Hasler.

Can’t stand him but it’s good for the game.

We've seen with our own club that the right coach coming in and picking the eyes out of the player market can change the culture fairly quickly.

And you can make the case that occasionally the stars align even for clubs that aren't all that well run. Like the 2005 Tigpies GF win. I think most of their team were very workman like. But they had a pretty good spine of Hodgson, Benji Marshall, Scott Prince and Robbie Farrah coupled with a coach that had them playing a very polished brand of football with Prince providing leadership and Marshall offering flair.

I don't see them cutting into the foundations that Brisbane have in place to source the best juniors and sponsorship deals long term. But every now and then the stars align for every club.

A great coach can make players achieve greater results. Great players can make a coach achieve greater results. The Titans don’t have either currently.

Maybe Hannay might become a great coach or attract the right players to make him appear to be one. But the Gold Coast Titans is a tough job for both players and coaches. I wouldn’t be betting on them that’s for sure.

This is also the reason I am confident about our football club. Our coach appears to be on the verge of greatness. We have young players who may become great. And a captain that may be already.
