So you want 10 of our top 30 to be middles? Doesn't leave much coverage for the rest of the team.
sitilli, hayes and curran can all play edge so it balances it out a bit

Looking into the future while considering the salary cap and the retention of the precious younger talents, I feel that the only safe middles are:
Hayes, Hopoi, King, Latu, Thompson, Todd, Tupouniua, Underhill
Kikau is an exceptional talent, he will be 33 come 2027 a slower second-rower on 800k,
To force a contract extension he must prove he will a force as a prop !

I think KILLER will be retiring with us as he says he ain’t no spring chicken but MANN he can defend and is very valuable to us especially with his experience I think aswell working with LEO will work well together as they have a history together….!!!!!!!

Forgive my ignorance, who is "Killer"?

can probs add oliva smith to the list if he progress well in flegg/cup nxt season

Keaon seems like a good target to me! Grew up a Dogs fan too (currently on $700k)

He can create momentum but I would like to see him take less so at least it shows he isn’t there just for cash of course he is worth 800k maybe more 900k but let’s be realistic he ain’t coming to us he ain’t a bulldog.

He is a good but he's not worth 1.5 million.

We have on contracts for 2026 can play middles
Curran, Hayes, Hopoi, Hughes, King, Latu, Maiu'u, DSF, Thompson, Todd, Tupouniua, Underhill.
IMO Kikau at 31 is our hidden gem as a prop.
yep i also think its time Kiks moved to the middle.. maybe 13 though as not sure he's a play 1 front rower.. Latu HAS to be in the 17 though.. we cannot have Salmon, Mann AND Haywood in the 17 anymore,.. only 1 can be in as we are desperate for size.. Moving Kiks also allows Sitili to start on an edge..
8. King
9. TBC (Haywood or Mann if we don't sign a 9)
10. Leo
11. Sitili
12. Presto
13. Kiks
14. Mann OR Haywood
15. Curran
16. Latu
17. Hayes

Ron Massey Cup 13 and Captain: Salmon

One key issue i see with Kikau at 13 is his pass selection. Like Burton, he is pre-meditated.

He'll go to the line with a pre-conceived plan to pass before the line or at the line and any smart defender will pick off the intercepts.

When Yeo plays this role, he either passes early or holds onto the ball. He rarely pushes a pass unless its definitely on.

Kikau seems abit trigger happy to me, and sometimes (like Kiraz or Max King) its a pass to a player in no better position.

It may still be worth testing in trials but thats my perception of him, from what ive seen to date.

Kiks doesnt seem the ball player type lock 13 CC wants.
His best option is impact bench middle and he could be absolutely a revelation bringing his running game and size.

Why do you keep mentioning Hayward? His role is changing, he’s no longer being used as a utility off the bench
