Looks like the deal is back on for round 3, with a catch though.

Momirovski-Grant switch to get green light for Round 3 – but there’s a catch

Melbourne hooker Harry Grant and Tigers centre Paul Momirovski are set to be part of a historic loan agreement for Round 3, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The proposed trade would see the two players swap teams for the remainder of the 2020 season.

The Storm have lost Curtis Scott and Will Chambers during the off-season, while the Wests Tigers’ Jacob Liddle remains out with a serious injury and Robbie Farah retired.

The one remaining hindrance, however, is that Momirovski wants to commit to the Tigers long term given he comes off contract later this year.

The Herald claims that Momirovski will re-sign this week, but that there is hesitation given the current state of the games’ finances in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.

The other issue which held up the trade was the Storm’s salary cap.

Melbourne were believed to be $15,000 over the cap, but that has reportedly been sorted.

Brandon Smith is expected to be back for Round 3 after making a quick comeback from a face injury.

That in turn, allows Grant to head to the Tigers.

The Tigers have been deploying Billy Walters at No. 9.

Although usually a halfback, Walters played well in the Tigers’ defeat of the Dragons last Sunday.

We can't gazump them unfortunately as the deal is basically done and Melbourne don't seem interested in letting Grant go on a permanent deal elsewhere right now.

We and other teams had their chance earlier last season to nab Grant and it seems that window is closed for the foreseeable future.

By the time next year rolls around, if Grant still wants to force a permanent move, he will be worth a lot more on the open market.
