So no doubt everyones seen it in reviews and pictures and stuff like that.

The idea is that by contributing to Google Reviews/Photos/etc, that you get points which can be redeemed for various crap.

The more you review/add photos, the more points you get. You can also earn points by confirming edits to Google Maps.

In premise the idea is a good one, using the community to review/moderate things.

EXCEPT it doesn't work.

Instead reviews are often full of spammed bullshit, or answers from dickheads that are clueless and clearly don't know a thing about what they are reviewing / confirming edits for.

For example I've just looked up Belmore Sports Ground and theres a number of images there that are not even Belmore Sports Ground.

Then this persons Google Local Guide profile is full of photos tagged in places that aren't even there.

For examples sake shes posted one of Southern Cross Stadium, and it's her in a fucking traffic jam!

..

Google NEED to get another system, a better system for doing this. Self moderation is going to create so much false/incorrect information it's ridiculous.

Many of Googles services get off to a shaky start... they just need more exposure in order to establish and what have you.

Remember the amount of fails Google street view had when it first launched?

Who remembers what happened when Microsoft used to think it was a good idea to let nerd volunteers, administrate and moderate the zone gaming network?
