The images we have today in paintings and print are certainly western culturally contrived.. A perfect example of this is how Joseph..Mary’s husband and Christ’s ‘Step-father’..is depicted in many paintings.. He is depicted as an older man..the purpose of this is to visually illustrate the fact that he could not father Jesus..or any children.. as he was too old to do so..(no viagra in those days!)..As such emphasising the point that Mary was a virgin and Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit..

Certainly some subliminal messages being conveyed..
funnily enough I haven't seen the images of Joseph depicted as an older man.. I thought the image above was the one that took from markings on what they claim to be the Shroud of Turin, but that's a different image... one of the ones that always gets me is how people think God is some old bearded man who lives on the clouds... I mean come on.. clearly not the intention of the artists

That's what most sheep can't understand. Faith is different to religion.

I love being a Christian and label myself Christian and don't label myself with man made religion.

IE

Faith = Christianity, Judaism and Islam
Religion = Catholic, Orthodox and Sunni
Cults = Mormans, SDA and Scientology
Absolutely brother... The ‘Word of God’ has been changed and influenced by the hand of man.. The relationship between God and his follower is a personal one..

That is so too for Buddhism and Hinduism.

No they are not. The minority ruin it for the majority.
Shipping them around to other parishes when the complaints became overwhelming didn't help.

My take is that the Vatican WAS created with only good intentions. Man has fucked that up and no offense to any Catholics, it is just a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Many of their priests have claimed the devil lives there. If I were the devil I'd hang out in the last place people would expect to find me too.

The Vatican will be the One World Orders HQ and the pope will be the false prophet of the unholy trinity (the devil, antichrist and the false prophet)

Maybe older!!!!
People lived harder lives then, so i think they would "age" quicker. He could be in his 30's. Life expectancy back then was like 35-40, but was skewed by high infant mortality rates.

Actually no CD..It was done on purpose by the artist..truly.. It changed over time..:grimacing:

EVOCATIONS OF JOSEPH'S AGE

The 16th century also saw a change in the portraiture. A common approach previously had been to follow the Protevangeliumin making him an old man – balding, graying, often leaning on a cane. This kind of portrayal started to change at the turn of the 16th century, as Joseph became more youthful (example). The change was encouraged by Molanus's spirited insistence that St. Joseph should be portrayed as a young man (De Historia SS. Imaginum, 269-73). Earlier writers had thought the traditional imagery necessary to maintain belief in Mary's perpetual virginity, but Molanus argued that it was far more appropriate to show a young man capable of restraining his carnal urges, like his namesake Joseph when tempted by Potiphar's wife (Genesis 39:1-20), someone virile enough to take his wife and child on the difficult journey to Egypt, support them there with his labor, and then return them to Israel (Matthew 2:13-23).

Has anyone ever thought that maybe this life is just a test and the real life is the afterlife after you die
But why do some get harder tests than others.. Why are some tests shorter than others..? Doesn’t make sense..
