After four rounds, it is becoming obvious that the top sides, with endless cash, and more than their fair share of elite players, are putting 40 or more on the bottom placed teams relentlessly every week.
The rule changes are responsible for the blowouts because they favour the top sides with skill to burn.
Referees are so keen to observe the six again rule that It has turned the game into a one sided event for the elite teams; and given fans of the lower teams no joy or reason to turn up at games.
The bottom eight sides used to be able to give the top sides a run for their money when they could catch their breath, and not have to chase them all around the field with constant sets of six awarded against them. Fatigue is slowing them in defence, and they are being punished for it.
The rules were supposed to make the game more entertaining but it has played into the hands of sides that the officials favour. Unless you enjoy watching a struggling team get slaughtered week after week, the game is no longer entertaining.
If they want to make the game more open and entertaining they should also introduce the AFL style draft scheme. That will help even out the talent, as the game intended.
