Players don’t push up in support watch the storm. We run one out
As good as Meaney is, I think he is so tentative to push up and play that billy slater role. He should have followed hetherington every run but he was never there. Disappointing. But there are soooo many bad things happening at the moment.

Manly club should try to medically retire Des..
I laugh so hard that they extended him for two years when they could have let him walk at the end of the year.

Des must have some serious compromising Epstein type photos of all the media and club officials to be able to get away with what he does without criticism, and to get extended on top of it! It's the only logical explanation to explain it..

Let’s deal in facts, When Des got here we were on the way up with a team that had good juniors coming through mixed with good solid recruitment by the time he left our junior system was screwed the salary cap a mess. We have now lost a generation worth of juniors through inept management. We now after just a few years are seeing sprinklings of good juniors coming through again, we are still in the rebuilding phase in recruitment thou we don’t like the results that’s the facts . Over the last few years we have bought the wrong body types to many short back rowers with similar game, good work rate but slow with little attacking impact. Yes we all know we need a hooker, but the stocks are low in the NRL and to get one overseas with covid isn’t the easiest solution. And yes we need a bigger forward pack then we might see what the backs can do. As the Great Peter Moore said you Reap what you Sow

After four rounds, it is becoming obvious that the top sides, with endless cash, and more than their fair share of elite players, are putting 40 or more on the bottom placed teams relentlessly every week.

The rule changes are responsible for the blowouts because they favour the top sides with skill to burn.

Referees are so keen to observe the six again rule that It has turned the game into a one sided event for the elite teams; and given fans of the lower teams no joy or reason to turn up at games.

The bottom eight sides used to be able to give the top sides a run for their money when they could catch their breath, and not have to chase them all around the field with constant sets of six awarded against them. Fatigue is slowing them in defence, and they are being punished for it.

The rules were supposed to make the game more entertaining but it has played into the hands of sides that the officials favour. Unless you enjoy watching a struggling team get slaughtered week after week, the game is no longer entertaining.

If they want to make the game more open and entertaining they should also introduce the AFL style draft scheme. That will help even out the talent, as the game intended.

Hasler is a short term success merchant. He can coach , but really has no idea about recruitment or retention and also neglects the junior system. End product is that his club goes great for 2 -3 years and then things go south.
You can't blame the NRL coach for neglecting the junior system. His job is to coach the NRL team. Our club stuffed up in a major way. Des was a massive contributor but our club hired him and endorsed the changes he made.
