My mate was made redundant from his job.

He attended a meeting with HR and then got escorted out the building straight after the meeting. He got an excellent excellent payout.

They packed all his items on his desk and in his draws into boxes and couriered them to his house.

I don't know why the players are making a big deal out of it.
But was your mate expected to turn up to work the following days and expected to carry out work duties?

Seems the way of the world these days. I retired from one of Australia's best uni's in 2015 after 25+ years service. I worked at a Metroplitan Campus and my managers were located at the Main Campus in the city. From the time I handed in my retirement notice (in person) to one of my managers, until i walked out the door for the last time 4 weeks later i never saw any of my alleged colleagues ever again. When i got home there were numerous farewell emails in my inbox which i deleted, but never at any stage was i invited to a proper face to face farewell with my colleagues.

I was a reliable punctual employee rarely on sick leave while others around me rorted the system to the n'th degree.

I consider these colleagues lower class human beings and will never communicate with them again. My conclusion is that in this era staff get to managerial positions at too young an age well before their time and before they have done the hard yards.
Sorry to hear that.
Terrible treatment after so many years.
I largely agree though with the laziness and sense of entitlement. Maybe the recession caused by the Rona will be a wake up for some about how the real world works. Hope you’re enjoying your retirement.

Once I was having a smoke at my old job and looked out onto the carpark. I saw a lady who had just been fired standing with a box crying like a baby. I see her every once and a while, she has a new job so im allowed to mock and laugh at her for what i saw lol.

Just a bit of useless info.

Effen terrible form from them.... wow!!!
It sounds like the movie "Up in the air" where Goerge Clooney (not George Coorey) is a contractor that flies all over USA just to fire people... the employers don't do it.
I know mate. They didn't have the guts to tell me to my face. It's a shame I can't file for unfair dismissal as I was only there for a month.

Pricey is doing fine. TBH everything could go wrong for Steve and he'd still be able to wake up in the morning happy in the knowledge that at least he is not Danny Weidler.
I would have booted Tolman out of the club months ago....

Sorry to hear that. It can have a terrible impact on people and influence your judgement of your workplace and employers.

It just doesn't have to happen like that and leaves an poor impression on remaining employees so its a negative unproductive experience all the way through the workplace, at the time it happens, and into the future for employees staying on.

You'd hope HR practices would have improved by now.

After hearing about this bullshit with Steve price it’s concerning that a story that had no legs was taken out of context but it was Danny wiedler little rat it is.
At the end of the day Steve is the manger of the team and it’s his job to have these convos with player in a pretty unique year I say tough Tits. These players under performed and the ones moved on were moved on for a reason. and after watching the 360 program tonight how Kenty and others said it was normal practice to hand back club/ company property by a certain date
And the justification being that a deep clean had to be done before the team started preseason so to me that’s a fair assessment and understandable for price to do what he did.

but if this story was leaked by a player current would be disappointed because isn’t it a unwritten rule that what’s said in team environment should be priverlige information?

and if it’s a ex player that’s been shown the door this year well that says a lot about your character there a reason why club ain’t lining up to sign our rejects

and if it’s a club staffer ex staffer that is the reason your fired unprofessional
Just seems like there is a rat amongst the organisation leaking these nothing story’s who ever it is needs to fucking go if they haven’t been assed already
Geez that post was absolutely painful to read mate, I’m safely assuming you received an F in English, spelling and grammar exams!
