Here are the 10 shortlisted players. 2 will get in.

I'm going for 1 "new" one old school.

Ken Irvine - His strike rate has never been close to being matched.
Mal Meninga - 4 Kangaroo Tours, 2 as captain, a few premierships etc etc.

Lockyear's time will come. Norm Provan will be in the mix.

Dally Messenger should also be considered purely for his importance to the game.

.....

The Immortals was a concept created by magazine Rugby League Week back in 1981.

Churchill, Fulton, Gasnier and Raper were the four inaugural Immortals.

A further two, Langlands and Lewis, were added in 1999.

I don't care what anyone says but to me Terry Lamb is a true immortal of the game and should be included in the list above.

I am going with one old & one new.

Old: Ken Irvine
New: Darren Lockyer. Yeah, I know, not a shock.

Also Lockyer played in 2 different positions & was the first player to win the Golden Boot twice in different positions. (So far the only player to win playing different positions)

How can you go past Dally Messenger & Dave Brown (even if he was a Rooster)

Shows they were all great players.

I suspect close to the entire 10 will eventually get a guernsey

Hazem El Masri should be in there.

No disrespect, but aren't quite a few of them listed no longer alive?

Why is Bevan even considered.. surely it's taking the piss. 8 games for the NRL/ARL. Sure he's played heaps for ESL, but Immortals should be reserved for immortals in the NRL/ARL.

If I had to pick two, you'd have to say Provan and Coote.

Meninga and Lockyer are too Qld centric and involved with the game still.

Dally M has to be 1. Without him there is no rugby league.

For the 2nd spot It's out of Dave Brown or Norm Provan.

Well Mr I..Bevan was a damn fine player..he scored 757 first grade tries..that averages more than one a game.. You also gotta take into account that his Australian career was interrupted by World War 2 ..hence only his 8 games for the Roosters..you also must take into consideration the quality of the Rugby League in England during the time..it wasn’t the standard we see today.. Just one example was Great Britain’s 1957 World Cup win..hosted by Australia..beating France (of all teams!) in the final.. Britain won a couple of World Cups and won consistently against Australia..taking out numerous Ashes series..during the period he played in England..Bevan wasn’t playing in some ‘retirement’ competition for former Australian First graders.. So Bevan was not a push over..he scored three or more tries in a single game..100 times.. He actually scored 7 tries in one game alone..Any guy that has achieved what Bevan has achieved against quality opposition..regardless of where..deserves at least an Immortal nomination..

Ps..he is the only person to be in both the British and Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame..and was good enough to be selected in the Australian Team of the Century.. So some pretty good judges recognised his ability!

Pps.. Check him out..

Who cares? The whole concept of the immortals is as stupid as the WWE Universal title.

Any genuine, bonafide immortal would not waste time on this shithouse game. There, debate settled. We’re supposed to believe Andrew Johns is immortal? Dude looks like he can barely tie his own shoelaces. The game is way too common to produce immortals.

Doesn’t one immortal still have really serious allegations over his head? We need to tone down the hero worship a notch. Sport hasn’t produced a true immortal since Hulk Hogan.

Fuck rugby league!

Aiden Tolman should replace whoever is the 4th immortal.. it's only fair. :D

It was never an NRL thing but rather a RLW thing that the NRL bought the rights too. In reality they are saying that some players of the past are better than others. That's kinda disrespectful given how much talent has come through the game over the years.

In reality it's just a big wank (like the Dally M awards).

Burge was born in 1894.
Yeah but his playing career would make anyone that watching him growing up at least 91.
