Yes this is a totally different race but how short is too short for you?

melbourne cup=anyone can win

$2.50-$3.00 in that sort of race, as well as having the pressure on her in the build up

i was thinking along the lines of $4.00 is a fair price

Can't wait to have a laugh at this when I get back on Wednesday.
I do not believe any horse can win the cup, some of the horses who make the field will not win no matter how the race is run, nor the weather, nor any other factors.

The race is a test of staying abilty and only the true stayers will be among the top of the field. They also need to have shown the right form leading up to the race. Admittedly there are limited internationals (and importantly no Godolphins) in the field but there are a couple of extra rules you have stick with when looking at the international horses.

I am with Christa on the winning front. My pop use to race horses and he taught me his winning style, and ever since 2000 I have picked a winner, does anyone have the actual odds or the names of all the horses?

After finally managing to do the sweep I have decided my sentimental each way bet, ie. the horse chosen by name rather than reputation who I don't really give rate a chance but I'll still put $2 on is On a Jeune.
(This bet paid dividends with She's Archie in 2003)

I selected this horse because 11 years ago, the last time the Cup was on my birthday I had backed his father Jeune

The rest of my decisions on the horses I do rate will be made trackside tommorrow afternoon.
