I'm sure Oxford St would be the after-party.
Thats still not the parade though dude. The after party each club/bar will be required to follow the states covid restrictions.

The point is they haven't been given special exemption, there's going to be none of the floats in the scg, only people marching round the scg and a crowd of 23000 (half the scg capacity) which is no different than what the state is allowing for sporting events.

Had they held the actual parade on the street, they'd have the same restrictions as the Anzac day march, so they sought a new venue which allowed more attendees based on the states restrictions

23000 or 50% capacity.
And has a 6 hour time limit.
Not that big a deal.

I do agree with you though about standing outside on Anzac at sunrise last year. I did it but not many of my neighbours did. Hopefully more join in this year.
I was working night shift so at sunrise I stood out the front of our shop. It was me all by myself as there was no one else working in the near by area at the time.

How is it that the Mardi gras coming up in a few weeks is a free for all when people can March down the street in g-strings , no cap on people marching or watching

But for our proud brave ANZACS only 500 can March due to covid? These brave people defended our country and way of life . If they want to march, they certainly have the right. But have to enter a ballet to be selected in the cap of 500 to march?

But this mob at the Mardi gras? Covid dont exist for them hopping about (out of time) in g-strings and pulling faces? Is this ridiculous? Should they Show some respect to the ANZACS and acknowledge we are in a health crisis? What did they do to earn the right to march with less restrictions than the ANZACS? hoodwinked everyone to vote yes?

Wedding and funerals have been restricted,
can't go to church, sporting matches, noone can go to the tennis? Must wear masks on public transport? But Mardi gras it's basically a free for all?

What is going on?
Mate, please wake up, I don't know how old you are but many years ago the press, probably Murdoch started the slogans sex sells and greed is good.
As a result Christianity took a nose dive, sec flaunting became rampant with pornography etc. even a few of the men in cloth got caught up in it.
Those with gay tendencies (I rather use another word)) felt left out so they campaigned very subtlety and got their way.
Not long ago if a minister of the Crown got caught bonking he/she lost his/her job, Now now our all powerful Prime minister Scumbo has changed that standard even for ministers of the Crown.
Yes all this rubbish has been going on since time memorial, but it was always behind closed doors, now because it is all out in public it has became a free for all, 50% of year 10 students, have had sec according to Stats, people openly boast about been Gay, kids 13,14 want sex changes.
I'll be 77 next month so I probably wont see much more rubbish, GOD PLEASE HELP THE YOUNG, BTW even some atheist's agree that religion has generally been good for society.

The only restrictions the Mardi gras is facing is the international borders are closed, so international gays can't attend.

The Mardi gras has a better marching deal than the ANZACS, that's my point.

Don't let facts get in the way

It took about 20 seconds to look that up and read it
What facts? They move the parade to the SCG? So what? It's because international borders are shut and they will naturally get a smaller crowd. Oxford Street parade would look a little bare this year (no pun intended). No international gays can attend. So scg makes it look more congested.

The Mardi gras isnt exactly known for their good social distancing practises, who wants to see people hopping around, out of sequence, in various states of undress, most with only a G-string, pulling silly faces..

I'd rather be watching the ANZACS March in perfect harmony dressed in their proud uniforms.

To limit the ANZACS ability to march and let the gays go silly is just ridiculous

This is from the Mardi Gras website. A simple bit of research would have answered your question:

A series of COVID-19 Safety Protocols will be in place which all spectators must comply with. These include:

During your seat booking registration, you must register names and contact details for all ticketholders to allow for contact tracing.
  • ID checks will occur prior to entry. Ticketholder names must match valid ID.

Maintain physical distancing at all times:

  • 1.5 metres distance from other people and whilst queuing.
  • Remain in your allocated seat as identified on your ticket/row
  • You can sit next to anyone within your ticketed group booking.
  • You must keep a two (2) seat gap between your group and other groups.

Practice good hygiene by using hand sanitisers provided upon entry and washing hands.

Arrive to the SCG venue via the designated entry gate at the arrival time as identified on your ticket or sent to you via email from our ticketing agent.

Follow directions of the COVID Marshalls onsite who will ensure all patrons are COVID safe and compliant.

Bag searches will occur prior to entry. We encourage you to minimise the number and size of bags that you bring for a more seamless entry. Bags must not be larger than A3-size (297mm x 420mm). There will not be a cloakroom available.

Symptom screenings and temperature checks will occur prior to entry. In any of the instances below, please stay home:

  • If you are feeling unwell or have flu-like symptoms
  • If you have been in contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19
  • If you have been to a known hotspot in the last 14 days
  • If you have been in quarantine in the last 14 days

We encourage all patrons attending the Parade to download and activate the Federal Government’s COVIDSafe app. Refer to these download links for IOS or Android devices: App Store Google Play

WW2 the last noble war, the anzac spirit took a hit when they invaded iraq for oil purposes, at least the A part of Anzac did
A political war and the decision of our politicians who sent our armed forces.

Blame politicians for starting war, never the humble digger.

Watch The Loudest Voice on Stan for more insight on the decision by Bush/Rumsfeld/Cheney/Fox to agitate for invading Iraq.

So what? All standard protocols.. the SCG just coincidently is a stone's throw away from the "all in" Oxford St afterparty.

They still got a much better marching deal than the ANZACS.

The gays held on a higher footing than the ANZACS?

My Grandfather fought in WWII and got shot and survived and went on to have a long happy marriage with kids and grandkids however he was the biggest hater of all thing ANZAC or RSL he always said I can’t respect a man that would kill another human because someone else told them to. He said if anyone calls me a hero they are very wrong.

In fact I reckon he would have much rather cheer on a bunch of people marching to celebrate love and acceptance and happiness. I don’t know that was just how he saw shit after experience war.

I couldn't possibly judge his lived experience of war.

Unfortunately all wars have been started by politicians or generals who've sent off everyday men and women to fight for them.

They have the media behind them to frame the (not very often truth) that those men and women must fight to protect our freedom and democracy, way of life and our families. So I will not judge as your Grandfather did, but understand his view. My grandfather served and never once spoke of his experiences of WW1 on the western front.

We have a defence force to protect us from invasion but it is used for political reasons, which has happened since forever :(

The RSL site does in fact state that they are having a Sydney march. Has that changed.

Reduced with caveats but still an honouring and commemoration.

Another classic Pop quote in regards to the RSL was what do you think I watched men needlessly die all so I could play poker machines and drink piss and play bingo with a bunch of geriatrics’s. He was brutal.

The ANZACs chose to have it on the streets. The streets have a 500 limit if seats are not reserved, all this info is easily found on NSW websites.

The ANZAC can also choose the SCG if they want but they PREFERRED the street march.

Because of the 500 limit, the mardi gras opted for the SCG.

It's that fucking simple.

The gay bashing shit on this forum is fucking enough.
