Amongst the shit weve endured this season, a positive is that we have a young lad who is excelling out on loan, Ethan Laird, he is a right back who we’ve loaned to Swansea this season and he is completely tearing up the Championship.
Coming through the youth ranks he was considered as big a talent as Greenwood. He would consistently get 15/20 goals and 15/20 assists from right back every season coming through the youth teams. He made his debut for us in the Europa league against Astana when he was 17, two years ago.
He had a few niggling injury issues, and then faced a long term injury which kept him out for a year. He went out on loan to MK Dons (League 1) last season and was clearly too good for that level. This season in the championship he has been one of Swansea’s best players, he has created the most chances for the team, has the most tackles and most completed dribbles.
He is 20 now and has had two mostly injury free seasons and looks like he is ready for the premier league. He has drawn a lot of comparisons to Reece James and hopefully he manages to live up to the bill.
This guy is our future right back.
