That was bad in all honesty.

Will have to watch it again to understand how the fuck that happened after such a good start.

Gomez will cop a lot of shit, and deservedly so. Thought Stefan was carrying too much on his shoulders with his age really showing. TAA was a bit like a chicken running around with his head chopped off. Midfield couldn't keep up the same intensity. Fab with some costly errors.

Class rose to the top. Madrid just too good
gonna have to be one expensive summer to fix your midfield and defense

Strange subs again today.

Stefan was really struggling, would've brought Keita on for him myself and much earlier.

Gomez honestly was shocking that second half so have to agree with him being taken off.

Milner coming in when we're 3 goals down?

Yeah we need to spend big but Klopp needs a rethink also. Got his pants pulled down that second half

Fabinho is terrible, that's the big issue in terms of personnel. Almost every goal he fucks up by making the incorrect decision in defence. Fails to apply pressure and they get a shot/pass away easily, overcommits and gets easily beat with a one two, fails to cover space adequately. There's other issues from other players and tactical issues but he's the big one currently.

The team is just done mentally, we made the perfect start and were on-top of them yet everything fell to shit once a few things went against us. If we don't bounce back against Palace we're done completely this season.

I don't think we can fault the starting front 3 much tbh. Why then sub 2 if them off but no one behind when all the issues were occuring there?

Him and Bajcetic were in a different wavelength. All 3 midfielders were actually.

You're right about giving it away too easily. Seem to remember one goal directly coming from that. Maybe 2 actually? Also from Bajcetic.

Agree about Palace.

We were fried mentally. Gave up after the 3rd.

We can pump Palace but ...

Defence is the cornerstone of all team sports, our defence was very ordinary and the best example is how they scored their 1st goal, surrounded by 5 defenders they stood and watched especially Gomez who incidentally had his full of mistakes usual average game, we must have the worst midfield in the League :worried:

even the 3rd goal from militao was ordinary defending leaving him with a free header

We were mostly fine in midfield even with the mistakes imo. The system was working, Salah was looking back to his best and we were putting Real Madrid under pressure all over the park. Even when they countered us off a loose pass we still managed to absorb the attack and then get numbers around the ball. What we did after that though was the issue and that was being far too passive in defence. Once they got the first toe goals everything started to unravel and it was a complete shit show.

Real Madrid did not panic and have the discipline and polish that we currently lack, even at our peak we couldn't beat them under Klopp

And that’s the season for us.
Not sure why Klopp was all smiles in the presser. This team has been cooked for a while . Wrong renewals and wrong signings made and we are paying the price.
Klopp has broken many records for us, good ones, but today he broke a bad one. We’ve never opted 5 goals at home in a CL match before .

Agree. Felt that even at 2-2 we were reasonably placed but we bottled it.

Passive against Newcastle. Again today.

Constantly talk about leaders within the team but who stood up when the chips were down?

Found Carragher's criticism of VVD a little bizarre. Didn't think he was that bad tho one of these leaders not acting.

Gomez was dreadful. TAA also tbh. Midfield became non existent

Not sure there's any other way for Klopp to react.

It's only halftime and anything can happen in football so he can't give up. So I understand that.

But that's the worst European performance I've seen from our team to ship 5 goals at home in the manner we did.

All on us. All on Klopp who I think got it horribly wrong also.

At 3-2 Liverpool should have received a penalty it could have become 3 all and changed the tempo of the game instead RM scored soon after, at 4 -2 it become a totally different game...That's football !
