Boeing 747-8 BBJ ordered by the Saudi Government for its Royal Flight Group is being scrapped in an Arizona boneyard, with just over 50 flight hours to its frame. Having left the Boeing assembly plant in 2012, it was intended to be the private aircraft for Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, who never flew on the opulent airliner because he died in 2011 as the 747’s interior was being fitted.

Without its primary passenger, the Saudi Arabian Royal Flight Group never put the aircraft into service. The basically brand-new plane was flown to EuroAirport Basel and sat in Switzerland for a decade with only 42 flight hours. During that time, no buyers were found, so the decision was made to scrap the plane. This Boeing 747-8BBJ made its final flight in 2022 from EuroAirport Basel to Pinal Airpark in Marana, AZ.
Now, the real question surrounding this travesty: instead of scrapping it, why not donate it to
@south of heaven for his world wide whiskey tour??
