Was watching something last night from a Canadian youtube plane geek he spotted that plane in Canada doing tests ect
Bonza and Flair (Canadian ULCC) share a parent company (777 Partners) so likely there’s shared crew training on the MAX depending on when the birds come out of Boeing. Added emphasis on MAX training too after JT610 / ET302 and the grounding.

A Boeing 747-8 BBJ ordered by the Saudi Government for its Royal Flight Group is being scrapped in an Arizona boneyard, with just over 50 flight hours to its frame. Having left the Boeing assembly plant in 2012, it was intended to be the private aircraft for Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, who never flew on the opulent airliner because he died in 2011 as the 747’s interior was being fitted.

Without its primary passenger, the Saudi Arabian Royal Flight Group never put the aircraft into service. The basically brand-new plane was flown to EuroAirport Basel and sat in Switzerland for a decade with only 42 flight hours. During that time, no buyers were found, so the decision was made to scrap the plane. This Boeing 747-8BBJ made its final flight in 2022 from EuroAirport Basel to Pinal Airpark in Marana, AZ.

Now, the real question surrounding this travesty: instead of scrapping it, why not donate it to @south of heaven for his world wide whiskey tour?? :-)

That’s a crazy story mate and quite bizarre but not surprised considering it’s our friends from Saudi.
Just throw money away like who really cares.

ORD, Christmas Day:
Ice build-up on a Spirit A320 discovered by the Captain on a pre-departure walk around:

Pre-flight de-icing is important in cold conditions as if a pitot tube gets blocked, it can lead to:
  • Loss of Autopilot
  • Loss of Flight Director
  • Loss of Auto-thrust
  • Loss of computation of Characteristic Speed
  • Loss of rudder travel limiter function
  • Reversion to manual Alternate Law
It’s why human factors remain critical to safe flight, no matter how advanced technology gets.
