We should beat Warriors but after that in think that will be it for the year unfortunately. But at least they have improved.
Agree that’s the likely scenario but Manly have injuries and looking exhausted so there’s still a decent chance

The most frustrating thing was that first try Cowboys scored it was so weak and letting that fat dog Leilua have an impact.

Still alot to work on for next year but we have light years ahead of round 1.

The cowboys simply played the game at a pace we can't compete with right now. We did pretty well to compete for a while but couldn't keep up in the end. Our improvement is still obvious and next year still looking much better, but we need a new half and more mental toughness.

You gotta take the lesson out of the loss but last weeks defense wasnt there and that can be fixed, weren't that far off the pace of a top side, they were beatable.
Dispense with the head torture.

Regards taking the game to Bundy.

Is the cost benefit v downside worth it?

Ok we are a great club taking the game to regional Qld and we have supporters up here.

But. How many local Bundy etc juniors would we need to unearth that will play SG Ball/Cup for us to justify the expense, and even the jeopardising of 2 points, giving away home ground and disappointing members who can't attend?

Financially it would have been a net sum loss?

Doesn't matter with us being 12th out of 16 teams this year..but it would seem very amateurish if we lost a home ground and gave a leg up to the opposition, gambling on 2 points to be earnt, next year.

Can't see the justification of playing a comp game there.

Maybe a pre-season game by all means but there is no way in hell that we will ever turn Bundaberg and surrounds off supporting a Qld team over a Sydney team no matter who they are and probably local youngsters playing the game. Coen Hess' younger brother played in the game before Bulldogs and whilst the area is not a feeder for Cowboys, not many locals can see Bulldogs supplanting Qld teams....just the way it is.

Cowboys taking their NRL game to Armidale, Goulburn, NSW will not help them much either.

Can anyone see long term benefits to the club?

There were TWO moments / turning points that changed the game yesterday;

1. Stimpson literally only had to catch the ball and fall over the line untouched BUT he dropped it and we missed out on a certain 6 points.

2. The Cowboys regathered the ball from a line drop-out when Chad Townsend showed more urgency than Schoup who just stood there and didn't even contest and then the Cowboys got a penalty went upfield and scored in that same set.

There was also the moment went Avo dropped a bomb and the Cowboys scored either that set or the following one. Might have been for the first try
Once they scored their first points the momentum of the game changed

As a mad Bulldogs fan in Bundaberg, the game yesterday was unreal for us. So much buzz, player interactions were great, and the crowd was very close to 50/50 (which is amazing considering where we are in Qld).
A lot of people I spoke too had travelled for the game as well- up from Brisbane/Sunshine Coast areas, down from Gladstone/Rocky.
The buzz around Bundy in the last few weeks for the game has been great, clubs and pubs were packed all weekend and a lot of people are grateful and thankful to the Bulldogs that they brought (and are continuing) to bring the NRL here.

No I can’t. I think it’s stupid .

I am happy to take a game elsewhere but you are giving them a massive advantage by playing in conditions that they are used to and we are not.

Parra did the same thing by playing them in Darwin

Played the team coming second, the 50:50 calls went to the cowboys, the Dogs were in the game until the final 10 minutes. ( two months ago would have gladly accepted this )
Gave cows some advantage with the locations, but the Dogs are not playing finals footy in 2022. If these collaborations with regional towns came drive some talent from some the games best footy nursery, i am all fir it.

We sometimes have unbelievably unrealistic expectations for our team.

We competed well and strongly but there is undeniably a big gulf in our fitness levels and class between us and the top teams, Potter cannot do much to change what was done in the preseason, that's why you have players who at the start of year either weren't in FG or were playing in completely different positions.

We should judge ourselves next year and use the remaining of this year to blood youngsters, shore up connections (Burton to JAC has been a highlight this year, when we add Kikau to that edge it'll be monstrous). As long as we compete against the big teams and beat the teams we now technically should beat then we are building nicely to 2023.

Def inderstand that. I'm from up that way myself.

Great for local fans and we aren't competitive at 12th spot anyway so no harm done. But. Someone said what if we were vying for a Top 8 spot or even Top 4 spot at this tail end to the season?

I would happily forego seeing the team play in Bundy under those circumstances and rather them benefit from a "home" game and therefore inconvenience the opposition by travelling to Sydney.

70% or more of the crowd were Cowboys fans (or sympathisers). Yes great for Bundy footy fans and businesses but I see very little benefit for the Bulldogs.

I think it's a good thing that we are making a presence in the Qld region. Don't forget we had many great players that came from Qld over the years. Im sure Gus is looking at the big picture here.

Lost 28-14 and only because we got overrun late when super fatigued and this made Drinkwater looked like Paps on nitrous..
3 crucial incidents mentioned by Kennellers they really did hurt badly, that line drop-out fk that annoyed me plus concede a penalty 2 plays later then they score that set iirc we were still nil up when that occurred.
Overall we weren't too bad all things considered.

I could be wrong but thought Flanno was ok yesty?

Was a terrific day yesterday! Well done to the locals. Was thrilled to hear the arrangement is for two more years! The pre-sale tickets for members saw front row seats. The team was also great after the game interacting with fans, as were the cowboys players. Well done Bundy….see you next year. Terrific game. We Just run out of puff in the end.

When all the dogs players were running out, i noticed Matthew Burton was the only player who slapped the doggies logo and pointed up a prayer. Good signs, plus he was very passionate when he scored his try, slapping the dogs logo and swearing with joy as said from my mate who was right in front of where the try happened.

Queensland clubs are not asked to forfeit home games; it's only the Sydney clubs. That is an advantage given away twice each year by Sydney clubs.
Queensland clubs get the lion's share of free to air televised games. Hard to see why anyone in Queensland wouldn't feel that playing for their own state is the thing to do.
