Willie Talau tried to use his son as leverage to secure a coaching gig with us. When we didn't offer him the position he encouraged his son to leave.

I honestly don't think he's done enough to say that it was a poor decision to put an unqualified coach in charge of our developing players in order to keep someone that hasn't stood out on a frequent basis. You potentially destroy the chance to progress for a load of development players. Add a layer of nepotism that could block the pathway of a better player.
Good to know thank you

He should've came in this year after Harper done himself a mischief
If the praise is even ballpark accurate he would have been better than Lafai.
That my friend is your best/most logical reply ever. Still love all the other stuff you post though :p

Dont go too logical on us.

You are quite correct on this matter,
The father pulled out his boys from our club when he didn’t get a coaching job.
Life goes on and other players will come along.
Exactly mate. He’s in and out of the tigers team. No big loss. Those sort of players are a dime a dozen in our junior system

Harper should have started over Smith / Holland and Montoya at centre ... So why would you expect the club to get it right second time around

Nasheed here,
Don't post often by this thread I couldn't help myself.

I was lurking on the tigers forum and noticed that a lot of their fans don't rate Talua that highly. Say he's a pea heart. Head drops, mistake in him although runs hard etc

maybe not the biggest loss? Nasheed.
Bulldogs fan here: stop fucking around nasheed.... stock to souffs and piss off

That’s the “official Bulldogs” version of how it went down. Tommy was told he was not NRL standard by our enlightened recruitment & retention crew; much the same as Bayly Simonsson was told when at the Club. Also very consistent with the Bulldogs talent identification over the years passing on Latrell Mitchell, Cameron Munster & Connor Watson to name a few.
Factor in also that Tommy’s younger brothers Lachlan & Cooper are Junior Kangaroos.

Don’t believe the propaganda. It’s this bullshit these buffoons push to justify their ineptitude & their decision making. The faces & names may have changed but the errors are consistent.

Talau at this stage has done nothing to indicate we have missed anything. Slow and lethargic, playing for an ordinary 1st grade team.

Slow & lethargic? You’re describing the prerequisites of being an outside back at the Dogs.
Talau at this stage has scored more tries than any of our outside backs in his debut season on as you said, an ordinary NRL side & season.
Skipper of our GF SG Ball team & Australian Schoolboy in 2018.
You’re an advocate of our recruitment & retention policy:- sell home grown quality buy/ retain overvalued rubbish.

Keep the best? DWZ @$700k, Montoya even at $200k, R Smith @$450k & Lafai?

Don’t be held to ransom? It’s called negotiating & communication and transparency; the attributes our recruitment & retention committee sadly lack.
All 3 of the Talau brothers have represented Aus. Schoolboys, these selectors also held to ransom?

Tommy Talau was very good in the halves in junior rep footy - was consistently one of the bettter players in those competitions. No idea why Tigers play him in the outside backs - safe but lacking pace for those positions.

Has far more potential and demonstrated ability than most of the players the club signed ahead him - especially those on development contracts.

Old news now - move on

He's honestly not that good lol. Big and slow. Has a good run every now and then tho.

He's probably same level as Montoya.

He was good in juniors because he was much bigger than his opposition. Has not shown anything in first grade to that level of potential so I would pump the breaks on him.
