We were mad. Sea Eagles even madder.

Sacked $1.3 million teen Moses Suli agrees terms to join Manly Sea Eagles, his third club in a month

TROUBLED teen Moses Suli has been handed yet another NRL lifeline after agreeing terms with Manly, which will become the powerful outside back’s third club in just over a month.

The terms of the deal, which was sealed late Friday night, weren’t disclosed but Suli is expected to start training with his new Sea Eagles teammates on Monday.

Suli was sacked by the Bulldogs on Wednesday after a nightmare stint at Belmore that was marked by laziness and a lack of desire to put in for his massive contract.

Suli and his manager were spotted with Manly officials at Narrabeen on Thursday morning to discuss an NRL lifeline.

The talent Suli's thrown away

The Sea Eagles still have money to spend in their salary cap but have been unable to make deals due to the salary cap investigation hanging over the club.

Suli grabbed the spotlight early last year when he was signed by the Wests Tigers on a deal worth $1.3 million over three years.

However injuries curtailed his rookie season for the Tigers and he reported for pre-season in alarming shape, having ballooned to 130 kilos, about 20 kilos above his playing weight.

After several warnings, the Tigers released him on January 31 and he was immediately picked up by the Bulldogs for the full term of his deal.

However, his first axing didn’t deliver the message that Suli needed to lift his game and he was trouble for Canterbury from the start, turning up late to training and using stress fractures in his ankle as an excuse to get out of sessions early.

Such is the regard for his talent that his manager Mario Tartak was always confident that Suli would sooner or later get another shot in the NRL.

If he couldn’t get to belmore on time from Fairfield what chances are him getting to the northern beaches for 7am training :p

Unless he moves the family over the spit. Doubt he could focus living away from home, he needs as much support as he can get at the moment. But good luck to him. Needs to put in the work to get back in shape. Coming back 20kg overweight is a discipline and attitude thing, so hopefully he can find his way otherwise he needs a year off to re-evaluate.

If I was his manager I would stick him on a building site for a few months till he got into work routine/discipline before signing with a club

How? The NRL haven't decided what Manly's cap will be next year... or does this mean they got off without punishment?

I'll leave this here so journos can just copy and paste the story in a week or less.

Suli was sacked by the Sea Eagles on Wednesday after a nightmare stint at Brookvale that was marked by laziness and a lack of desire to put in for his massive contract.

Suli signed with the Sea Eagles after the Bulldogs terminated his contract due to laziness and a lack of desire. It was thought that another change of scenery may be what Suli needed.

Due to start Monday morning at 10am for training, Suli arrived 40 minutes late for training before quitting 15 minutes into a weight session. His contract was terminated immediately.

His manager was spotted with NRL officials at Moore Park on Thursday morning to discuss yet another an NRL lifeline, so he could get his percentage cut.

Roosters and Broncos still have money to spend in their salary cap because they don't have one.

At least he isn't on centrelink payments yet. If he can't be punctual and put in the expected amount of effort for an NRL wage, he's really going to struggle with motivation if he blows this latest opportunity and winds up in a job that isn't considered a hobby for most participants. I'm just glad he hasn't been retained over someone that is willing to bust their ass for the club.

Where's all the bleeding hearts from the other thread. He needs help, there's a duty of care, he can't face the gym due to his past. He had no issues signing a new contract within days of being sacked. Some people need to open their eyes and see others for what they are, just plain lazy and without motivation.

I'm guessing that was before people knew he'd end up in a new club little over a week later. Ideally you don't tell people you've stepped away to give yourself a break from the game then jump on another contract. This will leave some doubts as to whether he's rorted the system to move on for better money.

I don't believe what happened was ever about him having a break. It was about the standards set by the coach and him not meeting them. He was sacked by the club, nothing more, nothing less. The sob story was then released by the manager who also arranged another club to sign him within a few days.

Whatever he turns out to be in the future it is a good step by Pay to show he means business.
