You hit the nail on the head mate. That's it. The cars are randomly put into boxes based on the production line. Every boxes of Hot Wheels cars sent out from the factory contain 72 cars - and with the 0.02% of the production line being Super Treasure Hunts (fondly abbreviated to $TH by collectors), there is only a 1.4% chance that a box has one, so if you find one in the stores, you are extremely lucky.I was wondering what a Super Treasure Hunt is.. how fascinating..it’s like a special/enhance edition.. And they are shipped out randomly to shops and collectors like find them. Is that right my man? What a super idea! This guy has one amazing collection! Great you got a beauty my man!
One more question.. Is a car in their packs (carded?) worth more than if they were out of em? Because you have the Skyline in the pack and he doesn’t..
ps. I liked the Mooneyes gold Van..oh and the Batmobiles..They were beauties!
Lamley has an amazing collection, but it's important to note, he gets boxes sent to him by Mattel and other toys stores promoting their range, so he's pretty lucky. He opens most of the good cars get receives to showcase them, and then donates the rest to the children's hospitals.
Yes - as a standard rule, the cars in their packs are referred to as carded ones, and they retain their value if the card itself is in good condition. A shot card pretty much means that the only real value is that of the car. An uncarded $TH is worth about 1/3 of the value of a carded one, however this can vary depending on the car.
