I was under the impression that he signed "for less" because, you know, creator of heaven and earth Craig Bellamy was going to teach him how to walk on water. I guess It's the broncos method, though.

"Brisbane sign (insert player's name here) for $20 a season because (insert reason that a 3 year old child wouldn't buy)"

"Brisbane release (insert above player's name here) freeing up $900,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.01 in the salary cap"

Here's the article when he first signed with the chance of rain.

I particularly like this quote:

“Sam actually took a pay cut to be at the Melbourne Storm. That’s how much he actually liked it.”

So Sam must have been on 9 trillion a season at Canterbury if he took a pay cut to join Melbourne and is the solution to all their problems by simply releasing him.

It's shit like this that have people questioning the nrl's integrity.

"nrl" and "integirty" in the same sentence is like having "Kim Kardashian" and "not a talentless whore" in the same sentence.

The UK's Best Kebab Shops. With an estimated 1.3 million sold every day, it is safe to say that kebabs are beloved across the nation. Since the first official kebab shop opened in North London in 1966, there are now over 20,000 kebab outlets in the UK selling around 2,500 tonnes of lamb and chicken doner a week.Oct 19, 2017

Sick to death of hearing that Melbourne have once again fucked up with the salary cap and aren't copping a significant punishment. Have they not heard about this recent invention called maths in Melbourne. Heads should roll from their admin and they should not be playing for points. But it's obvious that the NRL can't afford to let the long term investment into expansion suffer another serious blow, so they will give them 5 minutes in the naughty corner.

Cam Smith wants exemptions for players with 300 games for one club... not totally against the idea but funny how it would have benefited the Storm and himself.

Smith is a greedy ****. This wasn't an idea he discussed until he would be eligible like you say

I have discussed the possibility of allowing small exemptions outside the cap for players bought through the juniors. My idea was to allow clubs that bought a junior through to match the best offer and add on a small percentage cap free based on the highest bid. The percentage would increase annually. The current salary cap doesn't reward clubs that work hard and spend big money scouting and developing players.

The current NRL admin don't seem to care about grass roots football. But a system that rewards clubs for development of juniors might entice richer clubs to invest more heavily, knowing they can reap long term rewards by being in a better position to keep the talent they've invested in when they come of age and step onto the big stage.

Anyone going to mention all the money Cam made on his testimonials game and luncheons?

He’s not retiring for two years so he got paid lots of coin for what? Exempt off the cap too

I would shut up if I were him

So the Storm were only over a little bit if we believe Sam was on a base wage?? C'mon pull the other one.

History repeating itself with one of the names they retained through cheating the cap in the first place.

Once again Storm benefit from breaching the cap and offload someone else.

NRL should change the rules and the player that caused you to go over the cap is the one that MUST leave the club to get you under.
