The Storm have major salary cap problems leading into the new season and are attempting to offload three players to England before the start of the new season next month.

In a bid to balance the books, the club has told Super League clubs that giant prop Sam Kasiano, utility back Cheyse Blair and Tongan international Patrick Kaufusi are all available.

The re-signing of skipper Cameron Smith on huge dollars, as well as the retention of star players Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Jahrome Hughes, Felise Kaufusi and Curtis Scott, has left the Storm in a pickle.

A couple of English clubs have shown interest in the trio, but so far no deals have been done.

If the Storm can’t offload at least two of the three before the new season comes around, it will make life very difficult for their accountants.

....

Please other clubs....
don't help them out... let them get fucked over deservedly again for being cheats.

Then they will HAVE to shed players anyway, cop the majority of their payment, cop a punishment, and all players will be available to be targeted (you'd think) and at a stupidly low price.

Storm can try and sell who they want. If a player tells them they aren't going to England then it ain't happening.
Balls in the players court when contracted, not the clubs

Get big Sammy back, we are probably still paying some of his wage!

I'm certain that this will be swept under the mega rug. Nothing to see here. Just releasing a couple of millions worth of players because we're competitive enough with three rookies to replace them.

Only uncle Nick can make players disappear to super league or other teams to avoid "salary cap issues". He'll always be the master.

Nothing to see here, Melbourne needs to be successful, otherwise fans will start going to AFL games..... And the team will suffer a slow death!

This is the reason why we haven't seen big Sam in the news talking and how much weight he has lost, because he is being shopped around

I know that we're in a bit of a mess before signing Foran and woods, but there was also uncertainty as to what salary cap increase there would be. So in our case it was more a case of hoping for more and getting less, and then having to juggle things to make it all fit under the cap.
However, with the storm this time round, and provided the news is all fa that and they are over the cap, then they need to be punished! Regardless of whether they let some players go to become compliant. Here's why; the only real major signing they have made is Cam Smith. Given his commanded salary. They would have known it would put them over the cap, and have therefore deliberately played outside of the rules.
Sure enough they will let players go and become cap compliant, but they still broke the rules, and a couple of players will now need to uproot their families and move to the other side of the world. Pretty shit situation if your not keen on a UK sojourn!!
