Stereosonic announces biggest-ever 2013 line-up
The usual hype and rumours that accompanies the Stereosonic line-up announcement has only been amplified in 2013. At the kick-off of this summer, the festival is upsizing in a major way, expanding to two days around the country. Along with the change in format, Stereosonic promised “the greatest EDM line-up Australian has ever seen”, and now comes the time to marvel at their roll-call of talent. As expected, it’s huge.
The epic tour is headed by three of the biggest mainstage DJs on the circuit. After galvanising sets in 2011, trance don Armin van Buuren will be back on the Stereo stage, alongside dance music’s chief hit-makers, Calvin Harris and David Guetta. The triple-bill is just the beginning.
Also on board is a powerhouse group of A-listers, all coincidentally starting with ‘A’: Above & Beyond, Axwell, Afrojack and Alesso. Following the success of new album Ice On The Dune, Empire Of The Sun will be back with the full live show, and stars of Stereosonics-past like Zedd and Sebastian Ingrosso are also on mainstage duties. Then there’s Empire Of The Sun, anthem-specialists W&W, homecoming hero Tommy Trash, and the list continues.
Beyond the top-tier, this is a line-up that keeps you scrolling. For the return of the HARD stage, Stereosonic has secured an act that blew up Coachella this year: Dog Blood, the rave-ready alliance between Skrillex and Boys Noize. Expect their sets together to be some of the rowdiest this summer.
For the trance and big-room fans, there’s two dedicated arenas in 2013. Kabuki returns with headliners Giuseppe Ottaviani and Heatbeat, while Dutch high-flyer Ferry Corsten presents his own Full On arena with Showtek in live mode, a ‘versus’ set from Aly & Fila and John O’Callaghan, production prodigy Andrew Rayel and more.
This Stereo line-up also ticks off the house and techno wish-lists. The dedicated Hot Creations stage is headlined by the full live show of Lee Foss and Jamie Jones team-up Hot Natured, while at long last, both Maceo Plex and Solomun are booked for the summer trek. New this year is a UKF arena for bass heads, featuring Andy C and an all-star cast. So to sum up the specialist arenas: HARD, UKF, Full On Ferry and Hot Creations. It’s going to be a scorcher.
It’s time to get scrolling this two-day spectacular now. Thursday August 1st, tickets go on sale from Ticketmaster.
