Rather we invested in our juniors, so they hang around a bit longer whilst Pay figures out he can actually drop people from the team and try out promising talent!
We wish

$650,000 per year is a more than fair offer for a player of his potential imo
I think he's worth a bit more than that. He was the most exciting half ion the comp pre-origin. He showed he has immense potential early in the season and is still young. With the way the cap is these days, 650k is definitely unders.

Edit - he's 29? Wow, I thought he was a lot younger than that!
Not worth that much IMO. He would've been if he didn't mouth-off about the anthem protest during Origin.

Cody Walker reportedly agrees to new $1.3 million deal with South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have staved off competitors by reportedly re-signing star five-eighth Cody Walker on a new two-year deal.

According to The Telegraph, the deal will see Walker earn approximately $1.3 million, but doesn't mean the Rabbitohs are out of cap space to sign Latrell Mitchell.

Even after the Walker deal, the Rabbitohs are understood to have $1 million in their cap for the 2020 season due to Sam Burgess' medical retirement, money which could be used for both Walker and Mitchell.

Souths are said to be hoping that Mitchell's close relationship with both Walker and fellow Rabbitohs star James Roberts convinces him to join the Roosters' bitter rival.

It is understood that Walker agreed to terms with the Rabbitohs on Tuesday after canvassing the league for offers, with the Gold Coast Titans linked to the talented playmaker.

Walker's reported commitment comes after Souths coach Wayne Bennett said in December that he would remain in Redfern.

"Cody isn't going anywhere – he will stay at Souths," Bennett said.

"We just have to do a deal and the deal is close to being done. We won't lose a bloke like Cody Walker."

Soo, he was offered $650k...he was unhappy cos he wanted $850k...Souffs then offer him $650k (again?)...he now accepts?

Got no joy on the open market? Or perhaps Souffs added some of the Rorters-inspired contract "additions"?
