There was a lot of talk on here about wanting a seasoned experienced coach, but I really think we’re going to see why having CC who’s a proven development coach is so beneficial over the next few years, I see where Gus is taking us, he’ll keep the young ones coming into the lower grades and CC and Co. will sort out the keepers and turn them into future superstars of the game ..

The clubs in good hands success is just going to take time, enjoy the journey.
Yeh agree plus @wendog been talking about specialised coaches for years, so retaining Mick Potter, with Gould there, and brining in Hartigan, Mason, Bobcat, James Graham, there is a lot of focus on individual attention and development going in around the place.

Come talk to me about Holland when he’s played over 250 first grade games and represented his country ..
How can he?
He retired due to the way we treated him. Scarred his soul and made him ditch the game all together. He loved the club deeply and didn’t want to play against us. It’s also not hard to play 250 NRL games once you reach a certain level and you are injury free as depth has been bad.
If he wasn’t treated badly he could have played for his country.
BUT, let’s not be disingenuous and pretend it’s just as hard to represent NZ as it is to represent Australia.

Holland may have been a victim of bad coaching..
Exactly.
He had a breakout year in 2018, had more like breaks than anyone else in the competition despite us being dead last in attack, and then he got switched around. Was thrown to his non preferred side, then into FB, then into the wing, then into hooker and did ok in all. Picked up sally m points in his hooker debut.

Generally if a players good enough but receiving bad coaching, it’ll be spotted by a more astute coach and they’ll be picked up by one of the other 16 clubs, Holland had zero offers which says a lot.
You honestly think he didn’t get offers?
He retired and announced it mid season.
He said he had offers but didn’t take them up so he could return to Newcastle. He said he will consider Newcastle if they were desperate. But that’s it.
As for astute coaching.
Remember he came form nowhere. No junior comps. He started playing for a Newcastle team as a late teenager and then came into our first grade and won us the game in his debut.

What happened to Holland was a tragedy no question and it cost Pay his job, and we can argue whether Perrett was a dud, mediocre or competent or in between but there is no need to play him off againat what we did to Holland.

He's a better centre than all of them. It's not close Crighton is an ELITE centre.
Too bad it looks like we are putting him at FB. I hope Perham comes on really well this year and creates some real competition in our back line. JAC, Kiraz, Xerri, Crighton, Alomotti, Perham... drool

Let’s not forget he was basically invisible in G1 against manly (including from their kicks behind the line) but I’m not going to shit on him for that because we were all shit.
the last couple of weeks he’s been safe and dangerous. If that’s the standard we can expect from Hayze, I think we’re all going to be happy.
I like him. But I haven't seen him back up play around the ruck or even after a line break into the open. Haven't seen him hang around behind the play to support.

Crichton will do similar at fullback than perham. Just metre eaters, nothing flashy. Except one will be paid double the other

Just wanted to send another big shout out to Hayze Perham again after today's efforts.

IMO he was far and a way our best today.
Displayed the same energy and commitment from minute 1 to minute 80.

Well done Hayze.

Plenty of positives from the start of our season so far, Perham being one of them.

He's safe under the high ball and he seems pretty vocal during goal line defence but I still want to see more from him in attack.
