Cotric, Barrett and new sponsor this week would be massive for the club. Get the board has its doubters, which I think is natural, but those three announcements this week would fill me with a lot of confidence.
I have been critical of the board and the club in general. But I always said only way they survive is with getting things in order.

Although I don’t think Barrett is the best candidate for our predicament, I do applaud them from not renewing pay. And also if they get a new sponsor after locking up cotric and getting Thompson and not only that but getting him early. Then in my books things are going the right way.

Only thing that saves them next board election with be getting the club back in order. And although it’s very early on, we can’t ask anything more with the actions of the last week. Hoping it’s only the start.

Also if it is that Barrett is our head coach hope he can get the best players around him to make us entertaining to watch.

A Liverpool legend once said..

"When I score, I don't celebrate, it's my job. Does a postman celebrate when he delivers post?"

A sponsor, signings, etc should be the basics...are we at the point where we're celebrating the basics? Yes we probably are :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
Bro we’re celebrating a try in a game like as if it’s a win these days LOL.

Liverpool legend ... I don't think he said that when he was with us, did he? Actually remember Roy Keane saying something similar when Fergie gave him praise.

Should be the basics? Look. Everyone has been absolutely laying into our board, the club, the coaching staff etc. finding every negative possible.

Some positive things happen and the best that can be pushed out is "These are basic things. Why should we celebrate them?"

Then let's twist it and say about all the shit that's been happening at the club for the last however many months "These are usual things that occur when you've not be able to spend the salary cap. Have an inexperienced coach etc. etc. Why be so negative?"

Get what you're trying to say. I'm certainly not celebrating. But at the same time I can see progress being made so I'll call it as it is, and not be dragged down by the endless pursuit of negativity by some ...

Yes I just can't understand if we sign Barrett, what the club just recruits without him ? New players usually want to speak to who will be coaching them before they sign. I can see the Panthers wanting to keep him while they are playing good. I can't see him bringing any players with him though unfortunately - not players the Panthers want to keep anyway. He'll want to do the right thing by his previous employer I'm sure. Will be sad if we miss out on Burton because of this. Will be sad if we also miss out on Jackson Hastings because of Barrett. I read Barrett made a rule never to play Hastings in first grade again at Manly after he had the dust up with DCE. Does Hastings still hold a grudge against Barrett ? It will suck if we miss out on both of the best halves available just because of Barrett in different scenarios - and potentially other players because he can't speak to them while at the Panthers.

Phil Gould keeps saying the Dogs are the biggest club in Sydney - always have been and always will be.

Does anyone now exactly what he means by that ? I've heard we have the biggest fan base but is there some statistical proof ?

when you have not eaten food for years, you would celebrate at that bite into basic bread.

The manager of incoming Canterbury coach Trent Barrett admits the task of turning around the former NRL powerhouse is a “massive challenge” but says the club’s rich history and prominent brand made it an enticing opportunity for the ex-international playmaker.

The Bulldogs hope to finalise Barrett’s arrival for the 2021 season on a three-year deal in the coming days, during a busy week in which they are also expected to finally announce a new major sponsor
If the latter is some long-awaited good news for the NRL cellar dwellers in a tumultuous year, there was some more of it on Sunday when Kieran Foran was cleared of a toe injury he feared could end his season.

The playmaker is now expected to suit up in the team’s round-11 match against Newcastle next Sunday, before which Barrett is likely to be officially installed as the Bulldogs’ next full-time head coach following Dean Pay's resignation last week
Barrett’s long-time agent Wayne Beavis said on Sunday he was still poring over the terms of Canterbury’s contract offer to the 42-year-old, who is expected to remain an assistant at high-flying Penrith for the rest of this season.

“There’s a fair bit to go through so we’ve got to get all of that done and dusted. The bloke [Pay] has only just walked out of the place. You don’t do it at the drop of a hat,” Beavis said.

“I’m just going through the motions of looking at contracts and checking everything and making sure the i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed.”
Barrett will rejoin the ranks of NRL head coaches two years after his controversial exit from Manly, and Beavis makes no bones about the assignment in front of him at Canterbury should he sign.
“They’re running last, it’s a massive challenge,” he said. “But it’s one he’s up for.

“It’s a club steeped in rich history, it’s just gone through a lean period. It’s probably [in] a rebuild phase but it’s a very strong brand. It’s not a unique club because there are six and seven clubs in the same position in the bottom [half] of the ladder.”

Barrett at least won’t have his new team running around in a bare-fronted jersey when he arrives at Belmore, with the club close to naming a new major backer.

They were on the brink of signing a two-year agreement with restaurant chain Rashays earlier this year when their players Jayden Okunbor and Corey Harawira-Naera had their contracts deregistered by the NRL over a schoolgirl sex scandal in Port Macquarie.

The Bulldogs board is still discussing the reinstatement of the two players after the NRL appeals committee last week overturned their sacking and produced less serious sanctions that technically mean Harawira-Naera can resume his career in round 11, depending on when he can join the team's COVID-19 bubble. Okunbor is free to play again in round 15.

Harawira-Naera is reportedly angry about the Bulldogs’ response to the pre-season incident but has a strong relationship with Barrett from his junior days at Penrith.

Foran, meanwhile, was able to breathe a sigh of relief on Sunday when an MRI scan reported no structural damage to a big toe on which he had surgery two years ago.
Foran has been offered a new one-year contract by the Bulldogs, but at a cut-price rate compared to the more than $1 million a season he is earning on his current deal.

He has been eager to push for a higher valuation with on-field performances in the second half of the season and hopes to seize on the opportunity after being cleared of the injury.
Good to see an old school local boy in wayne beavis playing his part in the bulldogs signing a new coach.

I think biggest in terms of financial (balance sheet and P&L) and fan base combined. The Dogs Leagues club is one of the most profitable if not the most profitable.

Real Estate agents have a bad name and quite rightly, they are rude, inconsiderate and on the whole aren't trustworthy.

You're welcome
Some are i agree but like every industry there are good and bad ,what do you do for work ,I assume you do work?

Foran cleared of a serious injury. It's only a matter of time before he goes down again but if he signs the new contract before that happens were screwed
The worst thing that could happen is Foran plays great over the rest of the year fooling the board into increasing their offer and then he gets injured again next year. If our board had any sense they should put a mandatory clause that he can't play rep football anymore. What separates our greatest players Mortimer and Lamb from the rest apart from their ability and impact is that they quit rep football to focus solely on the Dogs later in their career. "International" rugby league is like flogging a dead horse, its meaningless and no one remembers or cares about the outcome of "Test" matches. Test matches will always be limited to 3 countries and the rest of the world has zero care factor. Origin is becoming meaningless to fans as well, its just a nursing ground for key players to pick up major injuries.

Maybe I’ve been supporting the Dogs for too long but I don’t see the current board who started their tenure making excuses before a ball has been kicked off and had us not competing for three years a good start.

So the redemption path of acquiring a sponsor, signing a kid that plays wing for 650k and employing a fired coach who basically had the same win/loss ratio as Pay but with a better roster doesn’t impress me much.

I mean this is not a massive achievement at all, any dip shit could achieve this when there is team (supposedly) working around the clock for three years. Hmmm, not convinced.

Seems like an even split bro, we should have a poll to see.
We he was on 2GB on Saturday and they asked him if he wants to coach and he said he would love to and also he said a few clubs have contacted him. He also said he wants to stay in Sydney.
