It never used to be like this. Signings used to be left till the off season and handled by player managers or players directly with the club.

For some reason this changed and with it, it brought disruption amongst teams seasons.

Should the NRL look at bringing back in contract discussion limitations strictly to the off season? Quite a few clubs have been disrupted with mid season signings, and contract talk almost dominates the pages where once legitimate league discussion took place.

So what do you think? Should the NRL change the system back to how it used to be, or leave it how it is now, or do you have another idea?

Nothing else can disrupt our season. We are going nowhere fast and with our window for a premiership closed for a while yet (a few more years yet) I vote to keep it as is. At least it gives us something to talk about other than how shit this season has turned out.

The leaders in every walk of life are now afraid to enforce laws, so what do they do they just accommodate virtually all types of behaviour.
In our game clubs were approaching the players they wanted to recruit behind the scenes. So what does the NRL do they accommodate the cheats by changing the rules.

Definitely should be a transfer window.

Mid October after the Grand Final up to the 30th November.

If a player requests a release and it is granted their contract should be void.

Only if a club looks to offload someone, should they get stuck paying the difference.

It works in football around the world. I cannot see it wouldn’t here.

No negotiating during the season.
Player manager who break the rule, instantly de-registered.
Fucken players complain about not having enough time ? Gimme a fucken break. Most people have 2-4 weeks to change jobs.

The NRL should allow Phone Taps & Bugs whenever Politis & his club are negotiating with a player...

They all miraculously accept unders to play in Bondi
