Should airlines charge people per kg?

Yes they should and here’s another solution, they should only be allowed to fly on cargo planes not passenger planes. There I said it.

It’s that time of year when we book our holiday getaways etc..

The cost of an airline is directly related to fuel and weight / volume of its cargo so why don’t airlines charge people per kg? As part of the check-in you stand on the scales to validate the weight and if you tip over you pay a big $ penalty?

How many bigger women would claim to be 57kg when in fact they are 125kg?

I think it also should be discounted if your height to weight ratio is acceptable.. ie a 6 foot 6 bloke weighing 120kg has Overall less volume than a women 5 feet 2 inch woman weighing in at 120kg, ie short fat woman has less dense weight, more overall volume and be wider than tall. :grinning:

The short fellas ( <5feet 9 inches) that weigh 66kg would be flying everywhere getting cheap flights.. but they could also sit two to a seat being so weedy, maybe another better use of space

When we break it all down isn’t an airplane just another haulage carrier? Doesn’t a truck charge by weight? Volume?

disclaimer: I’m a big solid guy and happy to pay my fair share but shouldn’t big women with greater volume more cargo pay for it?

Science must not be your strong suit.....

A 6 foot 6 thin guy weighing 125kgs would be the same density as a 5 foot 6 fat woman weighing the same 125kgs, if their volume were the same.

Think of it as a Jenga block or a standard brick. You can stand the block upright or lie it flat. It will have the same volume and density.and weight.

So both the tall slim male and short fat woman would cost the airline the same in fuel. Comfort to adjacent passengers may be the only difference.

I dont necessarily think there should be a weight penalty but i do like the idea of a certain fat limit before you are forced to also buy the adjacent seat.

More importantly what i want to see is more people checking in their frigging luggage into cargo hold rather than filling up tye overhead compartments and making disembarking the airline an unnecessary wait.

Its ridiculous these days......

hold on a minute.. I also said the wide woman at the same weight would be more volume!!!! Therefore less dense… so they take up overall more space than a tall man of same weight..

They are way more volume in fact

@Blue_boost saw this and thought of you

it’s great to see other people see this issue too.. sometimes I feel like noone sees the fat people hog space… until they have to set next to one on a plane, train or bus… or worse get in a lift with one, be trapped whilst they burp and fart simultaneously whilst looking into your eyes
