Made a grand finalHas Johnson even played in a final in 10 years of 1st grade? He plays for a pay packet not to win a game or to represent our colors. Its a no from me.
Wow, talk about another James Hooper media article written with a clear agenda... he’s got to stop trying to frame decisions in favour of his beloved Tigers.DOGS EYE JOHNSON TO PARTNER BURTON
The Bulldogs will become one of the first clubs to make a play for ex-Kiwis playmaker Shaun Johnson with a view to pairing the playmaker alongside Matt Burton next season.
Canterbury has discussed it internally and like the idea.
With Cronulla landing the crucial signature of Nicho Hynes for $1.8 million during the week, the Sharks baulked at Johnson’s asking price of $1.2 million for a two-year deal and have told him he is free to go.
The Sharks’ initial offer to Johnson is believed to be almost half the $800,000 plus he’s on at the moment.
The delicate situation at the Bulldogs is what it means for axed halfback Kyle Flanagan.
Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett has committed to improving Flanagan as a playmaker and he is expected to get another shot in the NRL soon.
DWZ’S PAY PACKET WAY OUT OF TIGERS’ LEAGUE
The Wests Tigers have confirmed an interest in Bulldogs back Dallin Watene-Zelezniak but the stumbling block is the $880,000 he’s on next year.
As good a player as DWZ is, Canterbury-Bankstown’s previous decision-makers have been completely done over on that deal.
If the Tigers can strike a price where they’re tipping in around the $400,000 mark, there’s a good chance the Kiwi Test captain will unite with the Kiwi Test coach in Michael Maguire.
If not, Canterbury-Bankstown will need to continue to stump up to make DWZ the highest-paid winger in the NRL.
