SJ has still got the goods, he’s got 2 good years in him, it wouldn’t be a band aid at all, would be great for the rebuild, attract players also. TBAZ should seriously consider this, and Dufty too .!$!

Nope. A touch football specialist in defence & attack & too fragile. We need a game manager if we are going to get another half.

Top player but he won’t do anything with us behind our weak pack. If we get 2 top props and the cheese and still have money left over I’d take Johnson

Yes to him pending on price.

I don't understand why people don't want to go after experienced halves and then the following season when we dish up nonsense then complain that we haven't improved at all.

Part of our rebuild in 2009 involved bringing in Kimmorley who was also at that time way past his best. Johnson could be very similar for us as well

Johnson is no band aid solution. Fucking madness if we don't make a play for him. Why is he perfect for the raiders and not us. You need experience in the spine. As much as I'd love to sign Smith Melbourne seems to be fucking around too much. Let's use the funds elsewhere. Dufty Johnson and Mitch Kenny are all available and off contract why wait for Smith make a move now before they sign elsewhere.

1. Dufty
6. Burton
7. Johnson
9. Kenny

It's a fucking no brainer. Get it done.

I can only assume we are having trouble attracting the players we want and need. SJ and Dufty type signings seem desperate unless we are looking at moving on some contracted players

Has Johnson even played in a final in 10 years of 1st grade? He plays for a pay packet not to win a game or to represent our colors. Its a no from me.

DOGS EYE JOHNSON TO PARTNER BURTON

The Bulldogs will become one of the first clubs to make a play for ex-Kiwis playmaker Shaun Johnson with a view to pairing the playmaker alongside Matt Burton next season.

Canterbury has discussed it internally and like the idea.

With Cronulla landing the crucial signature of Nicho Hynes for $1.8 million during the week, the Sharks baulked at Johnson’s asking price of $1.2 million for a two-year deal and have told him he is free to go.

The Sharks’ initial offer to Johnson is believed to be almost half the $800,000 plus he’s on at the moment.

The delicate situation at the Bulldogs is what it means for axed halfback Kyle Flanagan.

Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett has committed to improving Flanagan as a playmaker and he is expected to get another shot in the NRL soon.

DWZ’S PAY PACKET WAY OUT OF TIGERS’ LEAGUE

The Wests Tigers have confirmed an interest in Bulldogs back Dallin Watene-Zelezniak but the stumbling block is the $880,000 he’s on next year.

As good a player as DWZ is, Canterbury-Bankstown’s previous decision-makers have been completely done over on that deal.

If the Tigers can strike a price where they’re tipping in around the $400,000 mark, there’s a good chance the Kiwi Test captain will unite with the Kiwi Test coach in Michael Maguire.

If not, Canterbury-Bankstown will need to continue to stump up to make DWZ the highest-paid winger in the NRL.

Wow, talk about another James Hooper media article written with a clear agenda... he’s got to stop trying to frame decisions in favour of his beloved Tigers.

I think these guys forget about the 15 or so guys coming off contract.. we have wiggle room, it’s only a matter of making the right choices.

So Johnson becomes the 140th player we've been linked to. I doubt he's on our radar, especially at that price..

By next week, the media will have DWZ's salary at $2.4 million. Where do they come up with this shit? I don't doubt he's on way more than he's worth, but 880k? As if...
