A fan has hurled an object at Roosters centre Latrell Mitchell during their qualifying final against Cronulla at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night.
As Mitchell was preparing a conversion attempt with the Roosters leading 14-12 in the second half, a long, thin object was thrown in his direction from the crowd.
Calling the game for Channel Nine, Andrew Johns savaged the fan responsible for the ugly act.
That’s rubbish,” Johns said in commentary.
“Whoever throws that, throw yourself out of the stadium.
“We don’t need that rubbish going on.”
Phil Gould was also taken aback by the incident.
“Whoops, whoops, whoops,” he said.
“Someone from the Sharks crowd has thrown something in front of Latrell Mitchell.
“He can see the funny side of it but he’s got to start again.”
Plenty of fans on social media blew up over the incident, while other took a more light-hearted approach.
