I think this season, it's not such a big deal if Woods is moved to 5/8th in NSW Cup this season to accomodate Galvin playing halfback for a few weeks. He should learn other roles, and develop his running game more. But long term he has to be halfback so he is ready when called up, which I see happening around Origin time next year when Burton gets called up to be 18th man again.
 
We've had our first origin-affected season for ages and a lot of injuries and suspensions through the last couple of months. Galvin's signing added to the disruption but it's not the only thing affecting our form. We either got him now or Parra did. It's better for us long term IMO and we just have to ride a hard spot. I'd have LG in Cup unless we get injuries, but Ciro seems to think he'll be useful later on. Small ball or not the bench looks way unbalanced to me. Either way I reckon we'll find good form again before the finals.

I tend to agree Woods is our future half just honing his skills in lower grades.
Galvin is fine our coaching staff will eventually find what is his best position moving forward,CC will guide us into September nothing else.

As I said, the club is in quite the pickle. They want Galvin to replace Sexton, but are unsure whether he is ready to do what Sexton does. If you push him to reserve grade then they have to make a call on what they want to do in the short term, cause Galvin is first grade ready, while Woods needs time. So in that case it means you have to play Galvin at halfback to get the reps for next year (and this year) and push Woods to 5/8th.

Going to have to let the club work this one out.

Doesn't matter how many times you try and explain to them that from all indications, that we've had so far from Ciro etc, Galvin will be 7 next year., it just doesn't seem to get thru to them.

They're trying to get him up to speed now bc they aren't satisfied with Sexton.

If next year Woods develops faster than Gus and Ciro are assuming, we have Woods, Galvin and Burto all vying for a spot next year, when/if all healthy.

Agree. Thats all Ciro is doing.
Trying to navigate us to the Finals and bring this kid into our system so he's ready this year to help out if needed.

The rest will work itself out but some more big decisions may come to pass again next year.

Maybe send sexton as well to nsw cup ? Because wingers have more try assist lol
People don’t understand if you put the kid on 30-20 mins a game off course his going to over play his hand and make mistakes. Trying to impress with little time on the field. If anyone on here thinks sexton is going to get us a grand final you have high hopes and dreams we look lost in the red zone.

I find the biggest hypocrisy from the club was sending Sexton to NSW Cup to start the year in 2024 and not bringing him in until midway through the season and that’s after he played with us in 2023 and had a full pre season. The slow start cost us the top 4 that year. Galvin did not play for half a season and has not completed a pre season, has shown he doesn’t understand our defensive system nor our attack but he waltz into the 17. I just like consistency from our leadership.

If he can learn the positioning i think he could be a gun there. I don't think we can afford to play him anywhere other than the spine given the money he's on.

May have been smoothed over a little if he had come in and killed it from the get go , but it hasn’t worked out that way.
