It’s pretty rough but I reckon we haven’t had much to complain about until now.

So this Canadian company just puts broncos on every friday night regardless of their position on the ladder or if the other qld teams are performing better?
And also has the Broncos playing an 'away' game for magic round at suncorp....
Surely NRLOL politics plays it's part too

Na the draw is a joke, can literally play the same team twice in a month while also playing numerous top teams once or twice depending on what side you're on. The draw is stupid as fuck.
That's the one thing there's no excuse for.. When you play the same team twice in the first five weeks of the season like we have the last few years..

It’s unfortunate but there’s reasons why it couldn’t be moved - venue availability for one.
It’s not easy and there’s complex algorithms involved - not to mention they have to work in betting agency corruption and Rupert Murdoch’s wishes too :-).

That would likely be an NRL pre-requisite which would complicate the draw but it makes sense from a revenue perspective - broadcast and gate. It’s also why they pursued the Dolphins - a game in Brisbane every week - great for TV ratings, advertising etc. Will be interesting to see if the Dolphins are Crushers Mk II.

I thought we’ve had a fairly decent draw this year tbh. Had a hard start, which may be a blessing in disguise, had we had an easy run, is Barrett still coach?

Its not even about earning it though.. how can we play in queensland on sunday and Auckland on friday early game.. I get the warriors had to endure tough times last couple of years but even that was a farce.. as we know the covid protocols dont do shit
Its not that hard.
Fly to bundaberg couple hours. Fly to NZ couple hours.
Bit like fans travelling to homebush couple of hours

The Warriors have the same problem, they played today on the Sunshine Coast, almost same distance to travel, just 24 hours less recovery time for us.

Agreed. Dumb decision made in the interests of broadcast income. Barely enough playing talent to fill 16 teams let alone 17 and eventually 18.
17 teams shouldn’t impact broadcast income as it doesn’t add any extra games to the schedule. Only benefit is they get an extra QLD team for Friday nights

Sure, but prime time every Friday allows broadcasters to sell more advertising, ie: offsetting their outlay to the NRL and increasing value. A rising tide lifts all boats…

Unless there is a higher % of QLD teams playing on Fridays then that doesn’t actually happen

I’ll bet the Pilchards have several Friday night games at Suncorp on alternative weeks to the Ponies with some Sunday games at Redcliffe - which will likely be QLD derbies - Tits/Cows/Ponies. This would be very strategic and all designed with dollars in mind.
