If the work experience kid is the reason Flanno was dropped, Ciraldope is even more clueless than I thought. KO has been terrible. He literally does nothing but catch and pass and poses absolutely no threat to the defensive line. If you (or Ciraldo) can't see that, it beggars belief, to be honest. He has been so much worse than Flanagan ever was for us and it is only damaging his confidence/ delaying his development. He needs to be back in Cup, because he is not even close to first grade ready.

Ciraldope didn't pick the work experience kid because he was ready. Ciraldope panicked and capitulated to pressure from the fanbase and media. A real visionary!
To be fair, KO has been as ineffective as Flanno, with the difference being KO is improving. Flanno has no more improvement in him. Axing him was correct for the betterment of the team moving forward.

If JR could play longer minutes, he's better than all our halves. But he can't and becomes loose under fatigue.

If we persist with KO, he'll come good, but I'd rather Burton handled all the kicking.

We can't be kicking down FB throats from meek kicks

Everyone keeps saying KO is improving, but I haven't seen any evidence of it. We're just getting the same catch and pass rubbish we were getting from him six weeks ago. I don't really want to be too hard on him, he's only 19....but he's just so far below the level required of a first grade half. He is providing even less that Flano was providing prior to getting dropped, and a lot less than Flano was providing last year, yet people keep making excuses for him because he's a kid. If he's not ready to play with the big boys, he shouldn't be playing with the big boys, it's that simple. .

Even at his absolute worst Flano still offered more than Karl has offered since coming into the team. Let him learn sure.... but let him do it in reggies where he belongs....at least for the time being. Flano is far from perfect but offers things Oloapu just can't offer at this stage. He has a better passing game, is better in defence and knows how to draw and pass.

I was in favour of getting rid of Flanno and replacing him with JR or KO.

JR worked for 1 game (Cows). KO hasnt quite worked out so far, but I can see him improving. It's a matter of how much patience we have. I don't think it would hurt his confidence if he went back to Cup with a view of playing 1sts down the track. He's had a taste.

In the short term, I'd like to see Avo move into 5/8th with Burton. Not sure how far BBO is from a return.

Longer term, I would hope we get an experienced half (Hunt) at 7, with Avo and Burton to stake claims for the 5/8th spot with the other at centre.

If we had gotten Mitch Moses, I would have advocated to not extend Burton's contract and play him and Averillo at 7 and 6.

I honestly would like to see Burton improve his running game before I can consider him a lock-in for 5/8th. He otherwise only has a kick in him.
Burton has one of the best running games, just not used enough. He’s big, quick and has a step.

His biggest issue is that he's way too passive. Hopefully he'll develop that aspect of his game along with his decision making.
And that’s a criticism of almost every rookie half it can take years to develop the confidence to take complete control of games and teams .Cleary is easily the best half in the comp and is a multiple premiership winner yet he still hasn’t developed the confidence to take control of an origin match, it will happen at some point if NSW are patient enough to let it happen. The real issue is that the average punter has NFI what it takes to be an NRL halfback.

Exactly right .. look at Reynolds he’s what, 34 and playing his best footy .. I don’t even think he was playing this type of elite footy for Souths ..

Everyone thinking these players should be Andrew Johns or Steve Mortimer at 18/22/23 years of age with 5 or 6 games under their belt in the position they’re playing in are just delusional ..

Yep most halves don’t play their best football until their late 20’s or early 30’s Ko was never going to be the cure all for our halves issues but he was and still is our best option at 6 .

The attitude and belief is there.... the organisation is not - both in terms of the playing group and coaching staff. Why are we focusing our recruitment drive on the wrong positions? Why is our defence so disorganised? Why are we playing players out of position? Why are we lacking structure in attack and relying so heavily on off the cuff stuff? Why are we naming players on the bench and not fully utilising them - aka weakening our pack by playing a middle at hooker when we have a half who has spent time at Hooker in NSW Cup on the bench? Why are we picking injury replacements like Casey and overlooking guys like Skelton and Wilson (until recently in the latter case)? Why are we moving players around/ dropping them and not sticking with the team we decided was our best 17 (or even our top 30) after a full preseason.

Ciraldo has done a decent job of motivating players, but I have no idea what his long term vision is and I don't think the players do either.....probably because he isn't sure of his vision, himself.
You do cop shit but I think you do speak some sense at times mate. Not saying I agree with you or not but at least you back up the stuff you say

Thanks mate. Nice to see someone who doesn’t necessarily agree with my points, but still acknowledges the rationale behind them rather than just falling back on the default troll position.

Yeah, you really talk like someone who is content and satisfied with your station in life.

Why so much hostility, Fam? Who hurt you?

He does nothing. Stands there in the line and when he does get the ball he just dishes it off to the nearest player. Not sure why you think he’s our best option. He offers nothing. We’d be better off naming a third winger in the side.

Avo can’t defend at centre let alone closer to the ruck.
CC can get players in and around him at 6 to cover any defensive lapses … at centre he gets stranded on his own and found out ..

Burton, Waddell and KO have copped heaps this week with virtually nothing said about Averillo’s 7 missed tackles .. that’s a pretty telling stat … will never be a finals team with a centre doing that ..

Move him to 6 where his speed & footwork can help improve our attack and put someone beside him as his defence buddy ..

If they buy a specialist 7 and move Burton back to 6 I don’t know where Avo belongs because unless he dramatically improves his defence I don’t see him as a centre ..
