1. No interchange. Once replaced you’re out. Four reserves per game. Bring in fatigue factor.
2. Bunker to rule on forward passes.
3. Players who ‘dive’ or stay down to milk get ten in the bin…stamp it out.
4. No ‘six again’ with that ridiculous hooter! - it’s either a penalty or it isn’t.
5. Remove the 2 point field goal…stupid rule.

New rules…
1. Roosters have to stay under the salary cap!
2. Origin games are to be in Brisbane and Sydney. Never ever anywhere else.
3. Players who sign with rugby union, leave immediately.
4. If you want to play for a nation other than Australia, fine, but you don’t play origin.
5. Journalists who publish rubbish transfer rumours found to be untrue, are banned from publishing any articles for a year.

First and foremost the grey areas have to go. None of this refs interpretation bullshit.

Obstructions.
Sick and tired of seeing one side cop an obstruction penalty based on the ref deciding a player might have got there, yet in very similar circumstances the other team is deemed to have been incapable of getting there this no obstruction penalty is given. If a defender is blocked by a defender it's an obstruction.

Sheppard runs.
Once upon a time this rule was clear. The ball carrier can't run behind a team mate. Now it comes down to refs discretion again. Gi back to where it's a clear rule.

Set restarts.
Stop this bullshit where the ref decides on the go that the count restarts. It's just another grey area thing designed to give refs more control over the flow of the game. I don't care if play stops. I like to know what teams are supposed to be copping a restarted tackle count for. Would clear up a lot of people's anger if they didn't feel like their team is getting screwed for nothing.

Ball stripping.
Like others have said, if a second defender even lays a finger on the ball carrier, it's two in the tackle. Having more than one defender allows one to loosen the ball and get a grip on it before the other defender/s drop off.

Stepping off the mark.
You regularly see one team allowed to get up take a step a metre to the side and to three feet forward then the defence gets penalised. Needs to be stopped.

I could go on. But it's already a long post. Might add more at a later stage.

  • Bunker for tryscoring decisions only, meaning no more try confirmed b/s.
  • Refs are held accountable for their errors, meaning if they make mistakes such as incorrectly awarding tries, they are dropped for 2 weeks, and it comes with their pay getting docked as well
  • No 7 tackle set 20m tap restart
  • No 2 point field goals
  • Video ref can rule on forward passes if they are obvious. Get with the times, there is technology available now that can determine this like their was in Soccer over 20 years ago (virtual replay)
  • Golden point is gone, after 80 mins a draw is a draw
  • 20 mins extra time applies in the finals and in origin where a game must be decided. If 20 mins extra time does not break the deadlock, then golden point applies from the 100th minute after a quick break
  • If you stay down and the ref stops play, you have to go off
  • If you stay down to try and wind down the clock in the last minute (ie slow play the balls) the other team is awarded a penalty
  • Shoulder Charges are allowed
  • Punches do no necessarily result in a sin-bin (like before)
  • No sin bins for high tackles
  • No hip-drop penalties or refs making new rules every year FFS
  • No set restarts, straight out penalties instead
  • 40/20 only, no 20/40 or anything else
  • Touching the corner post is automatically deemed out (like the old days)
  • No 6pm Friday games
  • No Thursday night games
  • Live Saturday games on free-to-air
  • 4 games running simultaneously on Sundays. How awesome will it be to watch 4 games at the same time in 4-way split-screen mode - there will always be something interesting happening.
  • Origin has 2 games in one state alternating (like before)
  • 3pm Sunday Afternoon Grand Final

get rid of knock backs to eliminate 50/50 wrong calls, drop the ball forward or backward it's a knock on

one on one bootlace tackle let the defender hold legs longer

I hate the 7 tackle set. Diminishes the forward battle and the fight to earn field position. Now with teams so good with short drop outs the risk of putting in a bad kick is too great and the reward for a good kick is too small. See so many teams just run it on the last. Getting rid of it would lead to more tries, more reward to teams who win the arm wrestle.

Time off in the lead up to goal kicks, scrums and dropouts.

Golden try in extra time to win the game. The game can still be decided by a field goal, but only,if,after 10 minutes there wasn't a try.

32 players to make up a first grade squad If the nrlol are standing players down for 2 weeks for concussion.

6 player bench, but the same amount of interchange. Gives teams better coverage in case of hia or injury.

Trainers can't come on the field, unless its to deal with an injured player. No loitering or being a 14th player . . . Sorry Alfie

1 captains challenge per half . . . The standard off refereeing is so poor, it should probably be more

Referees who make obvious mistakes, get dropped to reserve grade. Stop rewarding their mediocrity

When the ball goes into the crowd, they can keep it.

I get free beer whenever i attend a match

The problem with forward passes is you have to deal with the forward motion of the passing player at the time of the ball release. But rather than talking about back out of the hands or such just say what it is. We don't need massive technology all we need to do is from a try scoring opportunity it gets sent to the bunker they just continue the motion of the passing player until the ball is first touched by the catching player. if the ball is still behind the Passing player that was projected forward then the pass is legal. All players wear GPS these days and the results just need to be real-time.

We have all seen commentators move players around on video to explain attacking plays, it does not take much technology to isolate and move a specific object in the video.

The other is better rewards for one on one legs tackles, only legs tackles we see these days are either cannonball tackles or players starting high but have slipped down, and then penalised for a hip drop. I can remember when it used to be one up top and one around the legs for a good tackle.

Wont work as a ball can be passed backwards but can float forward, that is still a legal pass.
No way technologically can be exact on that

The short goal line drop out is now overused. I think Matt Burton one week he got 4/5 back. When you grubber it into the in goal, you expect to get it back to build pressure. Even though the Bulldogs probably benefit from it, I'm not a fan of it, they should make it 15m instead of 10m.

They won’t do it. That’s the point.
players are always looking for the quick play-the-ball so they’ll allow themselves to be pulled down.
Not if there’s 5 mins to go and they have the ball, just stand there for 5 mins (pardon the obvious exaggeration).

On a traditionalist so don’t want to go to hectic, or my rules would revert to past.

scrums-
I would add them to be contested again. Favourin the attack sure, but add an element of scrummage there.
Kicking duels-
Bring them back
Markers-
Allow players to tap again if no markers
Teams-
I’d banish the lock and have 12 v 12
Maul-
I don’t mind a team getting into a maul situation if momentum hasn’t stopped.
Overtime-
5 mins each way. Unfair to defending team otherwise
Interchange-
Unlimited interchange for players wearing jersey 8,10,16,17 (props) this is to bring the big guy into the game. 4 interchanges otherwise.
This to protect the little man.
