I would love to know the bullshit way this company makes up these numbers.

Really, how does one get a grasp on supporter base numbers especially in a year like 2020 where we're not going out or spending money?

I'm assuming this is something to do with TV ratings.

As fans we barely wanted to watch the team so not really surprising.

Nasheed here,
Yeah, it's hard yo.

like, how do you measure a supporter base yo?
By paid up memberships?
Viewership?
whats a casual fan count as?

the best supported club would almost certainly be the storm or warriors yo. Both have territories of over 4 million band warriors have expats everywhere yo.
BUT, 99 percent of these 'supporters' are more casual than a Samoan surfer. Most will not b able to name any players and are supporters only if asked the question.
Whereas the Rabbitohs.... what a team! And their supporters are more likely to be students of d game.

Nah absolute crap.
I lived in Brisbane for 8 years and plenty of dogs fans there..
Even here in Melbourne there are a few.
2004 grand final we had 3/4 of the crowd.

But the club needs to get back to the top of the ladder because we will be losing half a generation who have started following rugby league in the last 5 years.

I’m not sure if they still get the info this way but it used to be done via a survey. It’s just a single question and they use that to get the stats. You could get someone who just says they are a Broncos fan because they live in Brisbane and don’t even watch a game. There’s nothing to clarify the fans level of investment.

I just did a Roy Morgan survey :p

they didn’t ask about my favourite nrl team though :(

it was more liberal or labor stuff and Netflix and nbn things :p

they wanted to give me a 20 dollar voucher at the end but I didn’t want it :p probably completely unrelated to above. Just thought I’d share :p

Based on how many brown paper bags you’re willing to provide

It's a company. https://www.roymorgan.com/

There's no way the stats are 100% (obviously) but it's still a good indication of where the clubs sit.

If it's true Broncos lost 8.5% of their fans this year you can only imagine how many we've lost in the last 3 years.

*According to this website we're down 30% from last year.

If this works like I think, it's based on FTA tv viewers. In which case it's hardly going to reflect the actual number of fans when Brisbane get games televised pretty much every week and others don't.

That's always been my major concern with our slow, yet continual, decline.

We will not have any youngsters following the club unless we start playing some decent footy and get some star players for them to follow.

Another reason why loosing this year by extending Pay was so foolhardy.

Anyway now we seem to have some sensible decisions made with Barrett and his team.
